Exhaust system components,

removing and installing
Note:

After working on the exhaust system ensure

that the system is not under stress, and that it
has sufficient clearance from the bodywork. If
necessary, loosen double clamps and align
muffler and exhaust pipe so that sufficient
clearance is maintained to the bodywork and
the support rings are evenly loaded.

Replace self-locking nuts.

9 - Separating point
As standard, center and rear mufflers are installed
as a single component. In cases of repair the center
and rear muffler are supplied individually and with a
double clamp for connecting.
Cut through connecting pipe with body saw, e.g.
V.A.G 1523, at right angles at the separating point

a groove:
Dimension -a- approx. 244 mm.

- Set engine speed with speed adjuster V.A.G 1788/10 to 1800-2200 rpm.
- Keep engine at 1800-2200 rpm until display in display zone 4 jumps from "Test
OFF" to "Test ON".
- Maintain engine speed further at 1800-2200 rpm until specification "Cat. B1 OK"
appears in display zone 4.

Note:

The duration of the catalyst diagnosis is about 60 seconds.

- Maintain engine speed further at 1800-2200

- Press key 3 (V.A.G 1551) or key (V.A.G
