AFFIDAVIT

I, JO1 Orlando Datangel, Filipino, of legal age, single, a bona fide member of the Bureau of Jail
Management and Penology and currently assigned at Metro Manila District Jail-Annex 2, after being duly
sworn to in accordance with law, hereby depose and state:

1. That on 1 October 2018, I was the duty Desk Officer.

2. That one of the items deposited at my custody is one(1) firearm with the following description

KIND: PISTOL
MAKE: TAURUS
CALIBER: 9mm
SERIAL NO.: TGT 14868

1. That the abovementioned firearm was issued to and deposited by J/Insp. Arnan Matangal.

2. That OOA 0916H , PDEA NCR SDO Personnels arrived together with some augment NCR STAR
Team arrived to conduct Greyhound Operations at the MMDJ-Annex 2 cell areas.

3. That OOA 0925H , I was verbally instructed by Jail Warden Lucky O Dionisio to temporarily leave
my post to assist the PDEA personnels in conducting greyhound operations at the 2nd and 3rd
floor area of the abovementioned jail facility.

4. That before I leave my post, the said firearm was still in the Desk Officer area.

5. That Jail Warden Dionisio and JO1 Abegail Nuňez were the persons left at the Desk Officer area
when I left and assisted in the Greyhound operation in compliance with the verbal instruction of
Jail Warden Dionisio.

6. That after the Greyhound Operation, I went to the Admin Office to surrender the handcuffs
used in the operation, and there Jail Warden Dionisio asked me if the firearm deposited at the
Desk Officer area belong to me.

7. That I answered in the negative and that said firearm belong to J/Insp. Matangal.

8. That when I returned at the Desk Officer area immediately after surrendering the handcuffs, I
noticed that the said firearm was not in place.
 9. Believing in good faith that the said firearm was already taken by J/Insp. Matangal who at that
time was the duty Officer of the Day and nobody would dare to steal the firearm at the very
restricted area, I did not asked him if he really withdrawn his firearm.

10. That on 2 October 2018, a day after, I asked J/Insp. Matangal if he has withdrawn his firearm at
the Desk Officer area/custody, however, the latter answered in the negative.

11. That on the same day, I talked to and reported the said matters to Jail Warden Dionisio.

12. That I also posted the same matter at the MMDJ-Annex 2 dissemination group chat hoping that
whoever may had mistakenly taken the said firearm or anyone who had information of its
whereabouts may return it or inform me or J/Insp. Matangal.

13. As such, I am executing this Affidavit to attest to the truth of the foregoing and for whatever
legal purposes it may serve.
