Objectives of the Kyoto protocol
• The main goal of the Kyoto Protocol is to control emissions of the main
anthropogenic greenhouse gases
• Carbon dioxide (CO2);
• Methane (CH4);
• Nitrous oxide (N2O);
• Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs);
• Perfluorocarbons (PFCs); and
• Sulphur hexafluoride (SF6)
What they do
•They treaty mainly follows the principles agreed in 1992 UN
framework Convention on Climate change
•Establish the fund to minimize the emission generated by
developing countries
•Accounting, Reporting and Review in order to ensure the integrity
of the Protocol.
•Establishing a Compliance Committee to enforce compliance with
the commitments under the Protocol.

Different situations in
different countries——some
may need to have their CO2
emission increased in order
to reach an optimal balance
