WHAT IS GEOTHERMAL
ENERGY?
GEOTHERMAL ENERGY IS...
Thermal energy that is stored inside the Earth, resources
of geothermal energy can include energy range from the
shallow ground, hot rocks, and hot water found a few
miles beneath the Earth’s surface.

If we go down deeper, we can use the molten rock deep

inside the Earth called magma. There’s a wide range of
resources provided. We can use Geothermal energy for
electricity by using the heat it provides in order to run a
generator.
HOW IT WORKS
DRY STEAM POWER PLANT

Dry steam power plants work by piping hot

steam from underground reservoir directly
into turbines. The turbines will power the
generator and produce electricity. After
powering the turbines, the steam condenses
into water and will be piped back into the
earth.
FlASH STEAM POWER PLANT

Flash steam power plants work by pumping

hot water from below the earth into the flash
tank. Because the flash tank is at a much lower
temperature, the water quickly turns into
steam, which then moves the turbines. The
turbines will power the generator and produce
electricity, while the steam is cooled and
condenses back into water, where it is pumped
back into the ground.

NOT ONLY WILL...
Geothermal energy make use of Indonesia’s geographic
state, it will also meet the demand of energy that’s
increasing each year. As the energy would be more
environment friendly, it would not damage Indonesia’s rich
natural resources.

In order to make this a reality, Indonesia needs to have

more geothermal power plants throughout Java,
preferably swapping the method of using fossil fuels with
geothermal energy.
Geothermal energy is an effective form of alternative energy
that’s suitable for Indonesia, especially the Island of Java,
because Indonesia is estimated to contain the world's largest
geothermal energy reserves (around 40% of the world’s
geothermal reserves), however this potential hasn’t been
used by the country, as today, Indonesia only uses 4-5% of its
geothermal capacity.
