Elements of risk management plan:

1. Organizational policies
a. Bullying, accountability, civility, gossip, sexual harassment, termination policy,
discrimination
Bullying
12

● Bullying may be intentional or unintentional. However, it must be noted that when an

allegation of bullying is made, the intention of the alleged bully is irrelevant, and will not
be given consideration when meting out discipline. As in sexual harassment, it is the
effect of the behavior on the individual that is important. Power’n Core considers the
following types of behavior examples of bullying:
○ Verbal bullying: Slandering, ridiculing or maligning a person or his or her family;
persistent name calling that is hurtful, insulting or humiliating; using a person as
butt of jokes; abusive and offensive remarks.
○ Physical bullying: Pushing, shoving, kicking, poking, tripping, assault or threat of
physical assault, damage to a person’s work area or property
○ Gesture bullying: Non-verbal threatening gestures; glances that can convey
threatening messages.
Accountability
Employees of Power’n Core must value accountability for their actions in the workplace.
Accountability is defined as taking responsibility for one’s own actions. Employees should be
comfortable with the idea of accountability and should practice this everyday while employed at
Power’n Core.

words and intentions on others. In order to maintain civility in the workplace, Power’n Core
employees must maintain a good attitude, great communication and respect.

environment for its employees. In order to maintain this commitment, all employees of Power’n
Core must avoid gossiping in the workplace.
Workplace gossip can cause a host of problems. Workplace gossip may cause
miscommunications or misunderstandings, which in turn could lead to missed deadlines, work
errors, and unhappy clients and customers. In order to avoid these issues, employees of Power’n
Core should make a commitment to:
1. Not speak or insinuate another person’s name when that person is not present unless it
is to compliment or reference regarding work matters.
2. Refuse to participate when another mentions a person who is not present in a negative
light.
3. Choose not to respond to negative email or use email to pass on private or derogatory
information about any person in the agency.
4. Choose to talk about problems in the workplace with those other than employees of

the proper authorities.
13

discrimination on any ground and from harassment at work including sexual harassment.
Power’n Core will operate a zero tolerance policy for any form of sexual harassment in the
workplace, treat all incidents seriously and promptly investigate all allegations of sexual
harassment. Any person found to have sexually harassed another will face disciplinary action, up
to and including dismissal from employment. All complaints of sexual harassment will be taken
seriously and treated with respect and in confidence. No one will be victimised for making such
a complaint.

Termination Policy
Employment with Power’n Core is voluntary and subject to termination by the employee or
Power’n Core at will, with or without cause, and with or without notice, at any time. Nothing in
