Introduction

“The Key of student success is form power of parent involvement”. The family is the most

impact on a child’s development. I’m doing a research journal article about family influence on

the student, this is my course EDU 3703. The article I chose is the impact of parental

involvement in early childhood education on children’s socialization. Which about how family

influence children achievement. This article was written by Andriano Gitile Okunyua. The article

was concentrate on how parent involvement effect in early childhood education and how can the

parent be part of children education. It implemented in Tigania North Division. Purpose of the

study was to establish the influence of parental involvement in early childhood education on the

socialization of preschool student. The goal of the study was to establish the influence of

parenting in young children education, to determine the effect of parental communication in

children, and establish the effect of parents’ volunteering in early childhood education on the

school. The researcher has been done include both parent, and children pre-school. Furthermore,

Parents' and the community are the first influence on education socialization of student, and it

proved that parent participation in student education effect positive in children behavior and

student education is impacted most when the parents are involved from the early year. (Driscoll,

2008) (The Impact of Parental Involvement on Children’s Education , n.d.) (Ikunyua.2012).

Research questions:

 Main question: How can family influence in early childhood education?

Sub-questions:

1. To what extent does parenting in early childhood education impact on pre school

children’s socialization?

2. How does parental communication in early childhood education impact on

preschool children’s socialization?

3. To what extent do parents volunteering in school activities impact on pre-school

children socialization?

Methodology

The researcher divided into the following: Research design, target population, sample size,

sampling procedures, research instruments, and data collection, data analysis technique.

The research used Ex-post design for this study. The study targeted all parents that have children

in pre-school from 40 schools in Tigania north division. The study targeted 120 parents and 40

teachers and 60 pre-school students. The researcher and the teachers identified the school which

parent non-involvement in childhood education and school which parent involvement in pre-

school. The researcher collects information from randomly sampled. And then make an interview

with parents, and give them questionnaires, the interview was administered on the weekend

which means parents free time. The information of researcher collected from interview and

survey. Study permit was sought from the Ministry of Higher Education. After that data collected

was analyzed and explanations by using the percentages for clarity. The research seeks to

determine the influence of involvement of the parent in childhood education.

Parenting impact on pre-school children’s socialization

Parents could support their children pre-school was about 89%. And 11% of parents unable to

support their children pre-school. Which mean that people who support their student in Tingania

are involved in their children education, and parent supports the pre-school learning activities And

this show as that parent effect on pre-school children socialization.

The research shows that 95% of parents’ revise homework with their children, while 97% of

parents’ provide stationery for their children. 82% of the parents discussed with their children work

in the school while 88% of the parents were involved in school. The information shows that the

children received a lot from their parents which influence in children performance. On the other

hand, all of the respondents agreed that parent support effect in children socialization, involved

parents through attending the school meeting motivate the children to work hard, and effect in

children academic socialization. Parents involvement help children to develop cognitive and social

skill, make a significant difference to children social behavior.

Parental communication in early childhood education

The research found 100% of parents were working with a teacher in the school activity. 82%

of parents attended sports day, open days. While 75% of parents pay school fees, 74% attended

the class meeting, 62% are involved in discipline issues. And 94% of parents sensitized from

school stuff. 86% of Parents was work in workshops by the school. We find that the school

administration and parents work as one team. The parents involved help them to be so happy and

feel proud of them self, parents see themselves as more capable helping hand their children in the

home, and by parent’s work that creates for children the confidence to be in the pre-school. Parents

communication help children to build a relationship and develop them in speaking skill and

listening and to collaborate with other children. (Family Communication, n.d.)

Family Communication in the early year for children develop a common understanding, and build

a trusting partnership and respectful land honest relationships, help children to communicate their

ideas and concepts. Communication import because it builds a deep understanding of how we

should take care of children, for example parents sharing information about their child with a

teacher or school staff this knowledge helps them support children. (Effective communication

between families and early childhood staff, n.d.)

Impact of volunteering parents on the pre-school

The researcher makes look out of the number of children in each family and they discover a

lot of information and results about it, and how parents are volunteered to support preschool.

According to research parents who have more than one child are more likely increase level of

involvement in student socialization in pre-school like in Tigania north division. Which show as

the parent’s awareness about importin of involvement in the early year of education, and show that

parent prepares to take responsibility to volunteer and to be part of education and taker care of

their children. According to the researcher, 87% of parents be part of volunteers to support the

feeding program in the preschool. Parents in Tigania volunteer their property for the purpose of

children education. Parents are the power of children education because children learn

determination towards education and interest.

According to Allen and daily, parent involvement helps social and emotional development and

greater life satisfaction, self-direction and greater self-control.

The outcomes of the research

The study revealed that there is parental participate in pre-school socialization which helps

children in many different ways, for example, providing basic needs for them. Parent visited the

school and communicate with the teacher has a positive effect on children reading achievement,

expressive language skill. And Providing a stimulating environment for children to learn. And the

parents visit many different classes like parent attending open, education days, sports class which

help the student feel safe and comfortable. Parents being part of their children education help

student to collaborate with other.

Involvement parents to early childhood education in the UAE

According to Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid, the children are the component if the

community. As we know the parents in the UAE always be part of education. In the begging of

the semester, the parents have one day off from the work to take their children in the pre-school,

to help children feel comfortable and to contact with a teacher on the first day. In UAQ parent visit

the school and teach the children with a teacher to grip student attention. The parents are welcome

to be part of the class. The government creates the mother’s counsel, which is the group of parents

works together for the school, they can make activity for children, solve the problem that happens

in the school, and participation in a special event during the semester. Some parent crate the class

center which make the child feel proud. Also, some parent attended with a teacher on the school

trip. According to Albarsha National school, they believed that parent involvement is the key to

children success (Partent Partnership, n.d.).
