What is QODBC?
QODBC is a fully functional ODBC driver for reading and writing QuickBooks data files. It is
based upon the latest SDK from Intuit (Ver 3.0) for 100% data validation, yet requires no
knowledge of the SDK to extract from, or import to, QuickBooks.
There are hundreds of applications such as Excel or Word that are out of the box capable of
using QODBC to extract QuickBooks data; and other programming applications such as Visual
Basic, .NET, Java, or Delphi that are inherently capable of using QODBC to write data back to
QuickBooks from any software application or hardware device.

Target Markets
QODBC is generally a horizontal solution that can also be used as part of a vertical solution.
Examples of probable QODBC users:
• Pro Advisors, Accountants, and End Users who have specific data reporting needs that
are not presently available in QuickBooks
• Pro Advisors, Accountants, and End Users who have identified the need to eliminate the
re-keying of data, by taking existing data from an application (i.e. Excel) and writing it
directly to QuickBooks
• Accountants, Pro Advisors and End Users who have specific reporting requirements and
wish to eliminate moving, cutting, and pasting operations.
• Users who have basic knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)
• Users who have access to ODBC compliant software applications that require no
knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL).
• Developers who build complete vertical applications for QuickBooks, i.e. Manufacturing,
Point of Sale, Web, or Remote Site Invoicing Solutions, etc. without having to learn
intricate details of the Intuit SDK.
• In-House Developers who wish to create company applications quickly and efficiently.
Pro-Advisors, Accountants, and End Users can take advantage of off-the-shelf tools like
Microsoft Query, or Crystal Reports to create spreadsheets, reports, and real-time data
repositories; or avail themselves of third party tools for Excel (i.e. QTable Grabber) which
requires no knowledge of SQL whatsoever.
Developers and In-House Programmers can use Visual Basic, .NET, C++, Delphi, etc. to write
data back to QuickBooks, For example, a client may have a specialized database that keeps track
of contractor orders and estimates, and would like them transferred into QuickBooks at the end
of the day.
Developers can also configure real-time web based QuickBooks data on a company intranet or
secure web site using any web development tools from Microsoft, Macromedia, or Adobe.
The possibilities are only limited by what the Intuit SDK allows.
