Commerce is developing tools to support ongoing local efforts that promote civilian-

Washington State Guidebook on Military & Community Compatibility

Commerce is working with MAKERS Architecture and Urban Design, LLP (MAKERS), an
independent consultant, to produce a technical guidebook about civilian-military land
use compatibility. The guidebook will describe planning processes, compatible use
programs, and examples of ways communities address compatibility through local
planning. Commerce and MAKERS will conduct outreach in 2018-2019 to scope and
develop content for the following guidebook sections:
