Expectations of Every student will follow direct instruction in order to create the best product
Learning Behavior they can. They will work independently and at an appropriate noise level.
Transition to Body I will show the students the image of what we will be making, and start
describing the steps of how it’s done.
Body - 50 Mins
Learning Activity #1 I will give students each a white piece of paper and ask them to put their name
on it. I will hand them each a plate with paint on it and a paint brush. I will then
demonstrate how we will paint our white sheet of paper in order to have a blue
background, and how it should be a light coating in order for it to dry before the
end of class. Once we paint the blue paper, we will put those aside, and I will
have the students draw on a white piece of regular sized paper, the outline for
the snowman’s head, body, nose and scarf. We will decorate and color in these
pieces before cutting them out. I will have the students color each with pencil
crayons and outline each with the same color marker for emphasis. After
coloring in the snowman details, I will show the students how to cut out the
pieces. Once the paint is dry on our pages, we will glue the snowman onto the
blue paper. I will then show the students how to draw on snowflakes and arms
for the snowman in oil pastels.
Teacher Notes: One student will be out of the classroom for the first portion of art. I will be
Assessments/ using his work as my demonstration piece at first, and he will take it over when
Differentiation he comes back which ensures he’s caught up with the rest of the class.
Closure - 5 Mins
End of Lesson Once the snowflakes and arms are drawn on, they will then hand their pages to
the back of the class for us to mark and post. I will ask the students, once they
hand in their project, to clean up all the materials, throw out the paper plates
and tidy their desk area.
