Handa's Suprise Lesson Plan

Classroom management, I want to be able to actively engage students in the lesson and end the lesson with the
learning outcome achieved.

I will use different tones and games to keep the students active and enthused.

I can tell I am achieving my goal if all the students are listening attentively rather than being distracted.

Opening (warmer activity + teacher introduction/demonstration of small group activities)
I will ask the students to stand up for the hello song, we will sing and dance.

I will greet the students, they will greet me back, followed by a brief how are you today.
10-15 minutes
Whole Time:

I will first start off the lesson by asking the students if they remember any fruits, they will start
guessing. I will then introduce the story, Handa’s Surprise. As I read the story I will ask them
questions about the story. After I finish the story I will ask if anyone wants to retell the story from
what they remember. I will help/guide them if needed.

I will model the activities and ask each group (by color) to go to an activity. Ex; red group I want
you to go to the yellow table and work on the printing activity.

Guided Experience (group working with the teacher) advancing

Students will be given cutouts of the fruits used in the story, they must work together to glue the
fruits into Handa’s basket.
10-20 minutes

I will assess them by asking them what fruit they found and it’s color.
Time:
Small

Independent Experience (small group activity 1) emerging

Students will discover the fruits in the discovery center with a magnifying glass, they will feel the
fruits and their sizes/color and explore. (tangerine, pineapple).

The story will be placed in the reading center the students can discover it as well.

I will assess them by asking them what fruit they found and it’s color.

Independent Experience (small group activity 2) developing

Students will be given a paper with the picture of a basket on it, they will also be given sponges cut
out to look like the fruits in the story, the students will dip the sponges into the paint (on the paper
plate) and print out the fruits onto Handa’s basket.

I will ask them what fruit they found and what fruit they are printing and it’s color.

Extra activity in case (backup)


Students will draw out what they remember from the story such as the fruits. I will assess them
based on their explanation on what they drew.

Time:

I will ask the students if they enjoyed their story and activities, I will also ask them to name me any
fruits they remember. If there is enough time I will play them the fruit song.

Assessment (highlight when/where you will do this is the lesson plan).
