Strengths of the lesson:

 Good positive start with a very good video

 Good use of Smart Board
 Improved relationship with children
 Materials nicely laid out on the tables – well prepared
 Nice, clear lesson plan
 Calm and well managed transition
 Very good to tell them you’re happy with them working on the activity but they need to be
quieter – well managed
 More confident teaching and monitoring
 Good to see you moving around the classroom
 Good rapport with students
 Better instructions but not sure they were all listening
 Second part of the lesson was much calmer and you managed the class well
 Monitoring and supporting was also much better in this part of the lesson
 Good to warn them about the time
 Good transition – you need to give positive feedback at this point to those cleaning up
quickly and quietly
Focus for next lesson:
 Your English is very good but don’t say ‘you have to raise your hand’ just say ‘raise your
hands’ – it’s warmer and the normal way we speak to children ie Mariam (with eye contact)
‘please raise your hand’
 Bit more positive feedback…. When the girl identified well what a verb does this is the time
to give exaggerated positive feedback. This will help with classroom management.
 The groups are very big – how about putting them in pairs? You will need more resources
but you can manage this
 Worksheets are not appropriate at this level. Children need hands on activities in lower
primary
 The activities could be a bit more engaging – you really need to think about creating activities
that keep them occupied. This will keep the noise level acceptable
 Try some EYFS activities – they are very hands on. Did you look into EYFS?
