CATEGORIES
Open Category:
-​ ​No age limit

-​ ​Elimination round on 2 August 2018, solo playing time allowed 10 minutes (can be more than

1 pieces).
-​ ​8 finalist (could be more than 8 finalists depends on jury decision) will perform in Final Round

on 5 August 2018, solo playing time allowed 17 minutes (can be more than 1 pieces).
-​ ​All pieces should be different in each round.

-​ ​Exceeding the time limits will lead to disqualification.

-​ ​All pieces must be played by memorized.

Junior A Category:
-​ ​Age not over 13 years old on 1 August 2018.

-​ ​1​ prize winner of Junior Category of Valerio Guitar Competition I, II, III, IV, V can not join in

Junior Category, you should apply in Junior B Category.

-​ ​Only one round (final round) on 4 August 2018, solo playing time allowed 8 minutes (can be

more than 1 pieces).

-​ ​Exceeding the time limts will lead to disqualification.

-​ ​All pieces must be played by memorized.

Junior B Category:
-​ ​Age not over 16 years old on 1 August 2018.

-​ ​1​ prize winner of Junior Category of Valerio Guitar Competition I, II, III, IV, V can not join in

Junior Category, you should apply in Senior Category.

-​ ​Only one round (final round) on 4 August 2018, solo playing time allowed 10 minutes minutes

-​ ​All pieces must be played by memorized.

Ensamble Category:
-​ ​No age limit

-​ ​Only guitar instrument in a group.

-​ ​A group is duo, trio or quartet.

-​ ​One player allowed to play more than one performance with other groups.
-​ ​Only one round (final round) on 3 August 2018, playing time allowed 15 minutes minutes (can
be more than 1 pieces).
-​ ​Exceeding the time limits will lead to disqualification.

-​ ​All pieces must be played by memorized.

Fingerstyle/Freesection Category
-​ ​No age limit, only 1 open category, solo playing.

-​ ​Contestant must use only standard 6 string steel guitar or nylon string classical guitar.

-​ ​Amplification only use microphone provided by organizer, no cable/plug in/ wireless.

-​ ​Contestant will only be allowed to take one instruments on stage not allowed to use any

additional effect and instrument (harmonica, tamborin, castagnet, etc). Only guitar.
-​ ​Contestant may perform either in a standing or seated position.

-​ ​Contestants must use their own instruments, no guitar will be provided by organizer

-​ ​Capo and alternate tunings are permissible

-​ ​Slider,thumpicks, fingerpicks and flatpicks are permissible

-​ ​Contestant may play any cover of their own choice or any original composition without vocal

and backing track. No singing and no talking to audience

-​ ​A medley of tunes is not acceptable

-​ ​Only one round (final round) on 4 August 2018, solo playing time allowed 8 minutes (can be

RULES
1.​ ​Applicant should mention all the pieces for each round in Application Form. The pieces
can be changed before registration closing on 15 July 2018. Any changes after closing date
are not acceptable.
2.​ ​The organizer will prepare 1 chair and 1 footstool for solo performance and 4 chair for
ensemble.
3.​ ​The organizers will prepare 1 microphone and 1 chair for Fingerstyle category.
4.​ ​Ensemble contestants have to prepare footstool by theirself.
5.​ ​Only classical guitar with nylon strings are allowed for all categories.
6.​ ​The organizer will determined the performance order by random drawing.
7.​ ​The Organizers may at any time call for new jury members to take part in the Jury or
subtitute the existng members.
8.​ ​All competitiors must accept the decisions of the Jury, regarding the awarding of prizes.
9.​ ​All stages of the competition will be recorded. Participants agree to waive any recording
and/or photos rights in or any media, during any aspect of the competition and consent to
the unlimited and unrestricted use of theeir name and image in any format or media for use
by the festival committee.
10.​ ​The result papers will not be given to all participant.
