Mitsubishi Marine Energy & Environment Technical Solution-System
MEET 2 introduces two cutting-edge technologies: Selective Catalytic MEET 1 Energy-saving system, creates electricity from waste heat

solutions significantly reduce NOx and SOx - two common sources of air
pollution. Together, SCR and EGR reduce NOx by more than 80% while

EGR (with scrubbers) reduces SOx by more than 98%. This enables Mitsubishi Energy Recovery System

SPECIFIC FUEL OIL CONSUMPTION (SFOC) UEC-LSE/H Series Output Range
All UE engines described in this booklet are fully compliant with IMO
NOx Tier II regulations in ANNEX VI of the MARPOL 73/78.
The SFOC figures are based on the below conditions,
ISO standard condition Diesel fuel oil Engine Speed kW
With a five per cent tolerance (P4-P1/min-1) 0 5,000 10,000 15,000 20,000 25,000 30,000 35,000 40,000

ISO Standard Reference Condition
UE Engines
We have added the fuel optimized “Low-SFOC” version to UE Engine 79-105 UEC60LSE-Eco-B1
line-up in order to bring maximum benefit to our customers.
By changing some engine parts and optimizing the electronically 79-105 UEC60LSE-Eco-B2
controlled system, we can lower the specific fuel oil consumption when
compared with a conventional “Standard” version. The figures for 79-105 UEC60LSE-Eco-A2
specific fuel oil consumption for a “Standard” version and a
“Low-SFOC” version are described in this booklet. 93-124 UEC50LSE-Eco-B1
In addition, the UE Engine has also improved part-load and low-load
SFOC by introducing tuning methods such as the LLO (Low Load 93-124 UEC50LSE-Eco-A2
Optimize), the MET-VTI turbocharger (please refer to page 65), the
UEC45LSE-C1
turbocharger cut-out system, and so on. Details of each can be 96-128 UEC45LSE-Eco-C1

Propellers
The MAP (Mitsubishi Advanced The MAP Mark-W propeller delivers even more efficiency while
Propeller) meets the need for energy maintaining cavitation performance. When designing propellers, not only
saving propellers that perfectly fit is higher efficiency important, but having lower propeller-induced
ships. We design the most suitable vibratory forces is also key. MAP Mark-W propellers employ cutting-edge
propeller blade for each ship, tailored fluid technology and can be used in any type of ship. The MAP Mark-W
to each customer's specification, is ideal for retrofitting and improves propeller efficiency and fuel
using extensive technical know-how consumption, leading to lower

Used in Combination with Slow Steaming
Designed to suit slow steaming requirements, the Mark-W can improve fuel
Over 10,000TEU efficiency by between 3% and 6% (when designed for 70-85% MCR conditions).
C/V Taking the following MCR conditions as an example for a 6,300TEU containership
installed with a MAP propeller, fuel consumption can be decreased as follows (Fig.

C/V Engine Output
40000 85% MCR = 4.0%, and (Case 3) 70% MCR = 5.0%. The amount of fuel saved in
these cases are shown in Fig. 2. By designing a propeller that matches the actual
VLCC operational needs of a customer, it is possible, for example, to achieve fuel savings
