Pedagogy Activity Students will use MindMeister to create a
mind map of the weaknesses and outcomes
of the government formed from the Articles
of Confederation.
1. Go to mindmeister.com
2. Sign in with your email address
3. On the dashboard click the NEW MIND
MAP ICON (first option at the top).
4. Click on the BLANK TEMPLETE to create
your mind map.
5. Type your main topic “ARTICLES OF
CONFEDERATION GOVERNMENT” in the
center of the oval space provided.
6. Type your subtopics “WEAKNESSES” and
“OUTCOMES” by clicking the PLUS BUTTON
(first option) in the top bar. Or you can use
the shortcut by clicking the main topic and
then hit the TAB KEY on your computer.
7. To type the first weakness, click on your
subtopic (“WEAKNESSES”) and hit the TAB
KEY on your computer and start typing.
Afterwards, to list each weakness
separately just keep hitting the ENTER KEY
and continue typing.
8. Repeat step seven (7) to list the first
outcome and each subsequent outcome.
9. To place your subtopics “WEAKNESSES” and
“OUTCOMES” in your desired positions (e.i.
to the left/right or up/down) just click and
drag the subtopics. As you click and drag
the subtopic all of your information that
you have typed will follow the subtopic.
10. After your mind map is complete click
SHARE THIS MAP at the bottom in the foot
Each student will be assigned a different
president from the first five presidents that
have served our country. The students will
research the presidents and discover what
major accomplishments the presidents
accomplished while helping the new nation
face challenges. As the students collaborate
the challenges will be presented in Twiddla
on sticky notes that can be used later as
study guides when studying for the SOL,
tests, or quizzes.
1. The captain of the group should go to
twiddla.com
2. Click on the GREEN GO BUTTON on the
home page.
3. Copy the blue public link to the right and
save it. Send the link to the rest of the four
members of the group.
4. Each member will complete steps 5-13
5. Click on the TEXT ICON (text box with T
inside) and click the STICKY NOTE ICON
(first option) to the right of text type.
6. Click once in a random spot at the top of
the blank canvas to place sticky note at the
top.
7. To position the sticky note at the top to
complete a straight line (the straight line
will be formed as each person take turns
and complete their sticky note) click the
SELECT ICON and then click the sticky note
and drag.
8. Double click the sticky note and type 1st
President and underneath type the
President’s name. Do the same until all five

bar and a box will pop up. sticky notes have been completed by all
11. Click PRIVATE at the top and click LINK TO five group members (e.i. 2nd

9. Click the TEXT ICON again and click the
SPEECH BUBBLE ICON or ROUNDED
SQUARE ICON (second and third options).
Click under the first president’s name.
10. Your text box will appear along with a blue
box that extends out of your original text
box. Start typing the first major
accomplishment that your assigned
president accomplished that helped the
new world face challenges. Click outside
the box when you are done. The text
should move inside your text box. To move
the text box click SELECT, click the text box,
and drag. (Each group member should
repeat until all five presidents have at least
two major accomplishments listed
underneath their names). There should be
a total of 10 accomplishments in all.
11. Click on the PENCIL ICON then click on the
COLOR BLOCK ICON (underneath pencil icon
beside drawing options) to choose a color
in the color palatte.
12. Click on the LINE ICON (the black circles) for
your line thickness.
13. A pencil will appear for you to outline your
sticky notes and text boxes. Hold down the
TLED 430

space bar and move the pencil at the same

time. Make it colorful and fun!
14. Once steps 5-13 have been completed by all
five group members the captain should
send a copy of the link to me.
