Sketch- a rough or unfinished drawing or painting, often made to assist in making a

more finished picture.

Detail Drawing- a drawing, at relatively large scale, of a part of a building, machine, etc.,
with dimensions or other information for use in construction.

Assembly Drawing- An assembly drawing shows how parts of a product fit together.
They are often used to show how to assemble parts of model kits and flat-pack
furniture. There are two types: A fitted assembly drawing shows the parts put together,
and can be drawn in 2D or 3D.
Installation Drawing- They may comprise plans, sections and elevations, but
increasingly building information modelling (BIM) is being used to create detailed 3
dimensional representations of buildings and their components which may
include installation information.

Sectional Drawing- A 'section drawing', 'section' or 'sectional drawing' shows a view of

a structure as though it had been sliced in half or cut along another imaginary plane. ...
Plan drawings are in fact a type of section, but they cut through the building on a
horizontal rather than vertical plane.
Cutaway Drawing- A cutaway drawing, also called a cutaway diagram is a 3D
graphics, drawing, diagram and or illustration, in which surface elements of a three-
dimensional model are selectively removed, to make internal features visible, but
without sacrificing the outer context entirely.

Exploded- View Drawing- An exploded view drawing is a diagram, picture or technical

drawing of an object, that shows the relationship or order of assembly of various parts. It
shows the components of an object slightly separated by distance, or suspended in
surrounding space in the case of a three-dimensional exploded diagram. An object is
represented as if there had been a small controlled explosion emanating from the
middle of the object, causing the object's parts to be separated an equal distance away
from their original locations. The exploded view drawing is used in parts catalogs,
assembly and maintenance manuals and other instructional material. Usually, the
projection of an exploded view is normally shown from above and slightly in diagonal
from the left or right side of the drawing.. It is slightly from above and shown from the
left side of the drawing in diagonal.
Schematic Drawing- A schematic, or schematic diagram, is a representation of the
elements of a system using abstract, graphic symbols rather than realistic pictures.
A schematic usually omits all details that are not relevant to the information
the schematic is intended to convey, and may add unrealistic elements that aid
comprehension.

Block Diagram- a diagram showing in schematic form the general arrangement of parts
or components of a complex system or process, such as an industrial apparatus or an
electronic circuit.

Repair Drawing- is the act of restoring the functional capability of a defective article in a
manner that does not assure compliance of the article with applicable drawings or
specification.
Wiring Diagram- is a simple visual representation of the physical connections and
physical layout of an electrical system or circuit. It shows how the electrical wires are
interconnected and can also show where fixtures and components may be connected to
the system.

Pictorial Diagram- The simplest of all diagrams is thepictorial diagram. It shows a

picture or sketch of the various components of a specific system and the wiring between
these components.

Orthographic Projections- a method of projection in which an object is depicted or a

surface mapped using parallel lines to project its shape onto a plane.
