a. Termination by Extinction Successful completion Unsuccessful completion –to

expensive to get it back on track change in the environment. termination by murder -> e.g.

a change in leadership makes a project be redundant

b. Termination by Addition Most projects are in-house, thus if a project is very successful

it might be institutionalized, transforming it into a division of the firm and later maybe

even into an independent subsidiary.

c. Termination by Integration The output of the project becomes a standard part of the

parent organization –property, material, equipment, personnel and functions distributed

among parent organization

d. Termination by Starvation =“slow starvation by budget decrement”Budget cuts can be

used to mask project termination. Project is not terminated

Work-Experience Application: In my previous experience, due to the electronic and

computer system are so important in a big project, our company decided to create a new

sub-company to do this business. Therefore, the new company became our partner to focus

on all electronic and computer system. It also helps other non-relationship company to

maintain and install a new system. It could earn money by itself. However, it's born by our

previous big project. This is kind of a termination.

6.

1. A project organization is not required

2. Insufficient support from senior management

3. Naming the wrong person as project manager

4. Poor planning

Work-Experience Application: This reminds me that when I was in undergraduate, our club

plan sometimes failed by poor planning. At the time, most students didn't have the

experience to hold a big project. We didn't know what should we plan in advance and we

didn't know when should we complete our plan in time. So, most of our event usually failed.

However, these experience let me clearly know how important project management is right

now.
