The temple employed various

optical refinements to give a
beautiful balance to its exterior
appearance. One of these was
that the ratio of the width of the
building to its height, when
viewed from the front, was close
to 1.618:1. This ratio is known
as the Golden Ratio, and is felt
to be the proportionality that is
most pleasing to the eye.

Length of temple: 69.5 m (228 ft.)

Height of temple: 19 m (62 ft.)
Width of temple: 30.9 m (101 ft.)
Height of columns: 10.4 m (34 ft.)
P Diameter of columns: 1.9 m (6.2 ft.)
