AAWC  Lesson  Reflection  (Completed  after  EVERY  lesson  taught)

Select  (S):
1.13.1.1: Identify math statements as true or false. This lesson is about students identifying
whether a statement is true and false, and then correcting the false one. this

Describe  (D):
What  were  you  trying  to  achieve  in  your  lesson?  I  was  trying  to  achieve  the  lesson  outcome  and  learning
objectives.  And  making  the  students  differentiate  between  true  and  false.  I  was  also  trying  to  achieve  a
well  teacher  –  student  talk  and  discussion  in  class  for  the  students  to  feel  comfortable  during  learning.

What  did  the  students  do?  The  students  were  on  track  on  what  I  was  telling  them  to  do.  They  had  a  quick
revision  about  equations.  For  example,  when  I  asked  them  to  write  the  answer  on  their  boards,  they  did.  I
gave  them  an  example  of  7+1=  and  they  answered.  Some  students  were  picked  to  come  to  the  board  and
answer  the  questions  that  consisted  of  true  or  false.  Then,  when  it  was  the  activity  time,  they  listened  to
my  instructions  and  started  the  activity,  they  had  some  small  papers  with  different  questions  and  they
had  to  identify  if  they  were  true  or  false.  After  the  activities,  the  students  sat  down  until  they  saw  the
slide  that  they  knew  that  had  to  grab  their  books  from  the  shelves  to  start  solving.

Analyze  (A):
Why  do  you  think  the  students  responded  the  way  that  they  did?  I  think  the  students  responded  the
way  that  they  did  because  they  understood  my  instructions.  However;  there  were  some  low  ability
students  who  needed  more  guidance,  and  I  did  guide  them.

How  well  did  your  teaching  relate  to  the  students’  prior  understanding?  My  teaching  was  related  to  the
student’s  prior  knowledge  by  them  knowing  and  understanding  the  difference  between  right  and  wrong
(true  or  false).
How  well  did  you  engage  the  students?  I  engaged  the  student  by  first  making  them  do  a  warm  up  and
come  to  the  board  to  dance  and  sing  the  numbers  1-‐20  song,  then,  making  them  tell  me  what  date  is  it
today  and  what  month  and  year  are  we  in.  Also,  by  giving  good  feedbacks  and  using  nice  comments  and
motivating  them  by  giving  them  a  star  or  a  stick  to  stick  it  beside  their  names  on  the  reward  chart  for
points

Appraise  (A):
Did  your  lesson  meet  your  teaching  goals?  Yes,  the  lesson  met  my  teaching  goals.

Transform  (T):
How  might  you  enhance  student  learning  of  this  lesson  in  the  future?  I  might  enhance  student  learning
of  this  lesson  in  the  future  by  making  them  develop  the  simple  true  and  false  math  statements  to
something  more  challenging  statements.

What  are  the  implications  for  your  professional  practice?  The  implications  for  my  professional  practice
are  to  develop  the  simple  questions  to  more  challenging  questions.
