Abstract

Planning the next five years of my career is going to be a continuation of my adventure.

As I approach the end of this chapter, I am looking forward to the exciting changes that are in

store. I plan to increase my knowledge in the field of education by participating in professional

development events and collaborating with peers to increase the success of our students. Within

this document I have included a brief five-year plan that will guide me throughout the next stage

in my career.

Looking Forward

Following the completion of the Master’s program at National University, I will complete

the BTSA induction program. Having both my Master’s degree and my CLEAR credential will

provide me with more time to seek out various professional development opportunities. I am

anticipating the chance to attend certain conferences to gain new strategies to apply in the

classroom. This includes AVID training, Kagan training, PBIS training, and any others that

become available to me.

Goal 1

During the remainder of this academic year, my main goal is the completion of my Master’s

degree and the BTSA induction program. The learning experiences that these two programs have

provided to me are incredibly valuable and I am thrilled to be able to apply my learning to the

classroom.

Goal 2

This academic school year will be the first post-education year of my career. My goal for this

year is to perfect various teaching practices that I have gathered over the last two years. While I

recognize that it is important to continue learning and gathering new techniques, I am looking

forward to dedicating myself completely to my students and their learning.

Goal 3

During this time period, I will be seeking professional development trainings and courses.

Specifically, my interest will be to continue the Best Practices theme and providing my students

with the best possible instruction. There are a wide variety of instructional courses that are

offered by the district and county. Taking advantage of these opportunities will be an asset to my

instruction.

Goal 4

In my sixth year of teaching, I look forward to collaborating with teachers in various content

areas to create cross-curricular instruction to increase the success of my students and provide

them with rich instruction.

Goal 5

As a master teacher, I would like to use the experience that I have to help prepare future teachers

and new teachers. This can be in the form of coaching new teachers or providing demonstrations.

Five-Year Plan

2018-2019 Complete Master’s and BTSA programs

2019-2020 Focus on perfecting techniques of my own teaching following the

completion of this chapter of my education

2020-2021 Seeking professional development programs that include techniques for best

practices

2021-2022 Focus on cross-curricular instruction

2022-2023 Mastering teaching and helping new educators learn techniques

In conclusion, I am excited to see what this next chapter has in store. It is my goal to

continue to grow to be the best possible teacher. I am extremely passionate about history and

want my students to capture that enthusiasm. It is my intention to provide them with encouraging

and exciting instruction that will inspire them to accomplish their dreams. With the help of

supportive parents, school staff, and my department, I know that together we can make an impact

on the lives of our students.
