Introduction

 The mechanical properties of concrete are dependent on many

factors, such as the characteristics of the raw materials used,
the curing conditions and the local concrete practice, which
may vary from place to place.
 The mechanical properties measured in other places cannot be
directly applicable to Hong Kong.
 To derive design models more suitable for use in Hong Kong,
separate studies on the mechanical properties of concrete made
in Hong Kong under the local conditions should be conducted.
