Please accept this letter and the attached resume as an indication of my sincere interest in the
open position as Research Assistant at the Computational Humanities Lab at University of
Southern California. I plan to graduate with a Computer Science degree in 2023. I am passionate
about understanding how technology and society interact and hope to contribute to making safer
technology through the Computational Humanities Lab.

I am currently a freshman in university. However, I have a strong math and computational

background as I have been taking Merced College classes for three years throughout high school.
My most influential classes have been Computer Programming, three levels of Calculus and
Anthropology. While I knew I was passionate about computer science, Anthropology allowed
me to see the true importance of understanding the influence of human background and culture
on how someone uses technology. In Summer 2018, I performed research at the Human
Computer Interaction Lab at UC Merced. Under Professor Ahmed Arif, I programmed a faceless
Morse Code keyboard to be used as a way of input for Android Smart Watches. I also ran
experiments for Graduate students to create new metrics for measuring error in text. My work
allowed me learn the importance of creating accessible technology for the elderly and disabled. I
hope to continue my passion for safe and innovative technology at the Computational
Humanities Lab.
