can go to a concert or festival.
Some students prefer very niche
music. Others enjoy the variety
of shows they can see all year
long. Its whatever mindset is

When planning on a

In the Midwest there
are many different types of

summer young adults may find
it enticing to go to an country
festival. The more popular local
event is Stampede. It can be de-
scribed as a gathering of some

of boot lovers wanting to camp-
out for a few days, drink and
sing along to music.

Rock Festivals are also
very popular in the Midwest.
These festivals are usually full of
nostalgia. There will be some
newer upcoming bands, but
also older bands like Metallica
that still go around performing.
There will be a lot of black
t-shirts, jean shorts, and good
times. The popular one near
here is Rockfest.
Another genre that
inspires camping out for a
few days is electronic dance
music. Usually, this genre’s
events are given a clever name
like Dancefestopia. This music
typically has heavy beats and
bass drops that bring an entire
audience into one big groove.
One of the main sellers for
this genre are the intense light
shows strapped with the music.
It makes it more interesting, but
also brings out the psychedelic
drug users looking or a good
time.
“I think as long as the
venue is in cooperation with
local sound ordinances and
other precautions such as ear
plugs, age restrictions are taken.
I believe a little bit of sound
pollution is relatively harmless,”
said Mitch McCune, local con-
cert goer. “Neither effects my
willingness to attend or perform
concerts.”
In humans it can be
detrimental to one’s hearing,
and can cause stress-related
health problems like high blood
pressure. In animals it causes
similar issues. However, the
main concern comes from
what the animals are used
to. Animals depend on their
sense much differently than
humans do. When loud sound
and vibrations are interpreted
by them. It throws their sense
out of whack. Thus, making it
harder for them to survive.
Some performers think
the idea of noise pollution
doesn’t affect them personally,
or their performances.
“It doesn’t affect my
ability to perform, because most
places are going to be loud with
masses of people anyways. I
think sound pollution is kind
of accepted to a point, because
concerts generally drown all
other noise out, due to how
loud it is,” said Robbie Bohm,
disc jockey in Kansas City area.
“Plus, as a performer I think be-
ing in the zone it’s hard to take
note of that. Overall, I am not
swayed by sound pollution.”
