Title: Tropical Forest Ecosystem


Subject Area: Science
Grade Level(s): 2-3
Objective: 2-LS4-1
Before this lesson students may be able to list particular plants and animals that
cohabitate.
During this lesson, students will be able to explain the layers of a tropical forest.
After this lesson, students will be able to make observations of plants and
animals to compare the diversity of life in different habitats.
Introduction: I will use a Kahoot and read Here Is the Tropical Rain Forest to introduce the
topic that is located on my google classroom.

Day 1- Introducing the tropical forest ecosystem using Kahoot along with reading
Here Is the Tropical Rain Forest (Level M). The class will start a project separating
each level of the rainforest and the organisms that live there.
Day 2- The lesson will start with an entrance ticket going over what the tropical
forest ecosystem. The class will then Log on to the EdPuzzle lesson.

Day 3- Start with a book called How High in the Rainforest? The students will log
on to the google classroom page and access the Nearpod link activity.

ticket.
Day 4- Student will upload a Flipgrid that is linked to the classroom page.

The students will then take an assessment using google forms which is also on
the classroom page. Students can finish up their project if they didn’t do so
already.
Assignment: I will be teaching my second grade class about the tropical forest ecosystem.
Kahoot survey will be given on the first day and a project separating the layers.
The second day students will complete an entrance ticket and EdPuzzle activity.
The third day the students will complete a Nearpod activity and exit ticket. The
fourth day students will upload a Flipgrid to our google classroom and complete
an assessment on google forms.
Assessment / Evaluation: Students will complete a google form that is located on the class page.
