Objectives:
Language Objective: Students will be able to verbally respond to a series of questions about
Rosa Parks.
Content objective: Students will be able to express how Rosa Parks contributed to the lives of
Americans using background knowledge and personal ideas.
Directions: The teacher will ask you some questions about Rosa Parks. There is no one right
answer to these questions. Your answers should be your own ideas and opinions. Answer these
questions orally to the best of your ability using complete sentences and supporting details based
on what you learned in class. Your answers should be the length of at least 3 sentences long for
each question.
The teacher is going to read your each question before we begin so you can get some thoughts
together. Then, as each question comes up in the interview you can take 1-2 minutes to form
what you want to say before answering.
Example question:
Test administrator asks: “Why was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. important to giving us the life we
have today?”
Test taker responds orally: “Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man who had a dream that black
people and white people would be equal. He wrote speeches and planned marches and protests.
He was a leader who helped black people be able to do the same things white people can do
today.”

1. Test administrator asks: What does Rosa Parks mean to you?
2. Test administrator asks: Do you consider Rosa Parks a hero? Why or why not?
3. Test administrator asks: How do you think today could be different if Rosa Parks did not
do what she did?
4. Test administrator asks: If you could talk to Rosa Parks today, what would you want to
say to her?
Scoring:
Scoring will be based on a range from 1-3, 1 being the lowest and 3 being the highest.
