Planning for Learning X

Your planning has improved this week and I can see that you’re think
more about the questions to ask students. You have good resources i.e.
PPT, digital version of the story, etc.

Managing Learning X

A much more positive attitude and expression presented to students

today. This was nice to see, you were complimenting students as well
which was really positive.

Don’t be afraid to move around or use your arms for expression- this will
improve as you develop more confidence in your practise.

Implementing Learning X

You clearing explained what they will be doing:

LO: To create a character profile of the princess.

You asked students for responses and they engaged in the learning and
were keen to share their opinion.
Assessment X

You asked students to create their own character profile of the princess
and to think about her personality traits.

Strengths of the lesson:

● Digital version of the text and PPT- Your use of visual aids was great today and really helps to
engage students in what you’re teaching. You also provided a picture of the princess to help
with their character profile and the children enjoyed completing this task.
● Movement around the room has improved and it was nice to see you asking children about
their work and engaging with them.
● Behaviour management was much better today and you had greater control of the class.
Next week consider having a little game or plenary activity at the end of the lesson to
summarize understanding and reward for positive efforts. For example you could play
‘synonym snap’- you say a word and the first person to provide a synonym gets a point i.e.
you say happy- children might say joyess, positive, excited...
Areas for development:
● Pedagogy- It is important to always model what you want the students to do. for example, if
you want them to illustrate a picture of the princess and write character traits then you
should do that on the WB or a large sheet of paper and brainstorm with them first. This sets
students up for success.
● Lesson Planning- your planning has improved and you were organised with resources this
week which is great. I’d still like to see more detail in your lessons and ensure that every box
has been filled in on the Lesson Plan. Please refer to my exampler of a student I’ve mentored
in the past.
