I. THE KNOWLEDGE I HAVE ACQUIRED ABOUT THE INDUSTRY

From the remarkable and very informative speakers, we gained an insight into
the industry we chose, the hospitality industry. Right from the very first speaker, Ms.
Patricia De Guzman, she gave us the insight about the airline industry, the benefits of
FOC’s (Free-of-Charge) for you and your family, from perks of being able to travel and
the range of salary of a flight attendant. But she reminded us that all of this glamour is
not achieved in one shot, she stated that perseverance is the key. That we would not
always get our goals and dream jobs, we have to try and try until we have acquired
what we wanted. And if you want something, you have to make a way for it because
opportunities do not show up at your door every time, most of the time you have to
create it. She also put an emphasis on investing in ourselves because, in this hospitality
industry, it is ourselves that we market.
The second speaker, Ms. Cristina Imerial Carl, got into more technical aspects of the
industry; the trends and technology. She gave the insight on the current trends like
seamless technology, tech explosion and how to cater to Millennials. And she gave an
emphasis that this industry is ever-changing and it is important to stay in current trends
and always look for improvement in ourselves to be able to serve in the industry better.
The third speaker, Ms. Ma. Marlene M. Carlos told us the other side of the story;
the hardships in the industry. She opened our minds that the salary of this industry does
not start at a high rate, of course, like any other industry, we have to start from the
lowest and persevere until we get the position that we want. She also gives an
emphasis for us to do what we are passionate about and along with it is to be good to
others, from customers to co-workers and to everyone. She also gave us the motivation
to hope and believe in ourselves because it gives us the power to do things that we
once taught impossible.
II. THE MOST IMPORTANT LIFE LESSONS I’VE LEARNED FROM THE SEMINAR

Be stubborn. It is one of the most relevant lessons I’ve learned from the seminar.
They taught me to be stubborn enough to persevere despite the adversities and
failures. To be stubborn enough not to stop trying to achieve my dream job and to be
stubborn enough to follow my passion. Next thing I’ve learned is not to care, not to
everything but to the irrelevant things, like the opinion of irrelevant people in your life. In
our industry, we will encounter countless opinions, remarks and judgment from our
guests and it is important to listen t it but we must be careful to not let it get to us. We
should not let the words of people shape who you are or what you want. Because if
you let everyone’s word affects you, anyone else could control you. Lastly, is to
embrace the changes. I’ve learned that if you do not adjust to changes, how will you
learn? Not embracing the changes will lock you in one place and you will have no
room for improvement.

Is the seminar a “POP” or a “FLOP”? Why?

This is 101% a POP! This seminar has definitely raised the bar of standards I have
for seminars. I really loved the concept that aims to inform the freshies to the world we
have chosen. The transition of the whole seminar has been smooth. The organizers also
provided the basic necessities for us, like water and foods plus giveaways like the pencil
case and notebook. Not only that, but they also provided raffle draws. The fee for this
seminar is indeed worth it.
