Although the Ministry of Education changed the curriculum midway through the year and
excluded teaching Math and Science, the teachers still include teaching contents such as Fruits and
Animals. For my 2rd MCT observation with Ms. Liz that took place on November 6th, I introduced
the lesson fruits by placing a covered fruit basket in front of me and the students and tried my best
to create interest by pretending to think aloud while describing the fruit and asking students to
guess what it is. I choose random students to come up and provided support when describing the
picked fruit to the rest of the class. When I’ve shown all the fruits that were hidden in the basket,
The first activity was guided by me, students in this group independently sorted out the inside of
the fruits next to the correct whole fruit all the while I’ve been observing, assessing, and providing
support (when needed). The second activity was small and consisted of students to either work
independently or with one another at playing the memory matching game (smaller sized
flashcards). As for the final activity, I asked Ms. Hamda to work with the students at the Arts table
where they will be provided with 7 fruit pictures each and will use clippers to match its
corresponding color. I assessed the students by using a checklist, asking questions, and collecting
At the end of the lesson, I sat with Ms. Liz to receive my feedback which gave me better insight
when planning differentiation activities. She told me about how just placing a plain paper in front
of the students and allowing them to draw what they just learned is considered another form of
differentiation which lead me plan to do this for my next lesson when revising the lesson “Fruits”.
