Overall aim and context of the lesson

Explore the impact of the flood.

Extreme weather, Flood.

Describe (D):
The lesson was about the extreme weather which is especially in flooding and the impact of it.
Floods have many causes such as rains, overflowing the rivers, ruptured dams and melting water
from snow and ice. However, the floods had different effects as destroyed villages, trees, killed
people and animals. In my first period of the lesson, students did an experiment of creating their
own village and make the flood through pouring the water as a rain. It's a very useful experiment
to investigate the influence of the flood. For the second period, students had PowerPoint
presentation which involved explaining the causes and impacts of the flood and asking varied of
questions. Then, they had small passage to extend their knowledge. Finally, they had a worksheet
to check their understanding of the lesson.
Analyze (A):
In the explanation part, students were full concreted with me through answering my questions
about the causes and effect of the floods. They give me different answers with justifying their
answers, so from that I see that the students understand my lesson and do not have any
misconception between the causes and effects of the flood. In elaborate, high level students had
longer passage than the low and the medium levels. I made a good choice when I provide different
passages to let the high-level students show them understand better than when they had a simple
passage and know all the information inside it.
Appraise (A):
I think all the students were engaged in my lesson and did their work effectively. I achieved my
learning objective when I show a PowerPoint presentation that show the difference between the
causes and effects. Asking students questions to identify their misconceptions is very useful and
it’s worked very well. Students adding other ideas for the lesson as different causes that happened
by flooding which show that they are understand the lesson very well.
Transform (T):
In the next lesson, I will try to provide more effective activities as games, puzzle which help them
to involve in the lesson, play and learn in the same time. My management were very effective that
I used bell, 3,2,1 eyes on me and class dojos.
