The project will adopt the technology on oyster hatchery and nursery

systems to produce and maintain a reliable supply of oyster spats for

Western Visayas and nearby areas. It will also verify the effectiveness of
various grow-out culture techniques (raft, longline, pouch and tray
methods, whichever is applicable) considering the growth performance
of oyster using the different methods. The project should consider the
areas suitable for oyster farming (source of broodstocks, water quality,
etc.). The first phase of the project will adopt the hatchery and nursery
system while the second phase will adopt the grow-out culture.

Duration: 2 years
The project will develop high value products such
as engineered bamboo, textile, charcoal and
other innovative products and design
appropriate machineries and equipment.
Duration: 2 years

• Development of high value products from bamboo

• Design and development of high capacity
machine/equipment
The project aims to address the BBrMV disease in
Saba which has not been given attention in the
past years. The disease was prominently observed
lately in Saba growing areas in Regions 2 and 4.

• Survey of Occurrence in Major Banana Growing Areas

• Movement and Dispersal of Pathogen
• Early Detection and Management Strategies,
• Optimization of Indexing Protocol for BBrMV.
The project will study the genetics and breeding of
quality mussel and mangrove crab for improved
culture.
Duration: 3 years

• Development of markers for quality traits of

mussel and mangrove crab
Considering that Marinduque is one of the major
producers of native pig for lechon, there is a need to
enhance the production of Marinduque native pigs thru
development of an organized community-based breeding
and selection, free range management and marketing
and distribution strategies and technologies to name
stable supply of native pigs and create livelihood for rural
farmers.
Duration: 3 years

Continuous improvement of economically important traits
•Functional genomics in Marinduke native pig (gene markers for reproductive and
productive traits including meat quality)
•Development of feeding systems for free range Marinduke native pigs
Establishment of nutrient requirement of different classes of native pig
Development of feed formulation and conduct of feeding trials
•Range enhancement protocol
Adaptability testing of forage species in swine producing area
