‘The Sold Show’ exhibition at Sukriti Art Gallery, JKK, Jaipur,

October 9, 10 and 11. 10 AM onwards.

Magnacarta rebel announces exhibition – The Sold Show – a collective and collaborative effort of three
artists on textile, film and video and paintings. The works will be on display at Sukriti Art Gallery, JKK.

The exhibition unveils the latest trend and experiment in the field of art – creating contemporary artistic
expressions with textile, videos and paintings. The exhibition highlights the latest work by Akash Gaur,
Anurag Swami and Chanchal Rathore. The exhibition will encompass 36 works in oil colours,
installations and film. The work in oil colours is tribute to the orthodox ways used in the visual art world.
Installations are made up with contemporary materials such as thread reels and silk fabric whereas the video
documentation is shot to show the planning and execution of the entire exhibition.

Concept of the sold show

The sold show carries a statement for today's scenario in visual art. It is a question on how an artist is
influenced by certain ideologies while performing an art. On the other hand, spectator or viewer has different
perception of an art work depending on the knowledge of the subject. And this is reason how the market drives. The
more you will be close to your viewer’s perception, the more successful is piece of art.
We also support to such ideologies but then this boldness sometimes becomes an advertorial, a bold influential
statement contributing to a fashion. We all are very simple at the core as an artist but a gap is made to maintain a
distance.
‘The sold show’ carries conventional works as well unconventional works of all the three artists. This effort
has been made to create a contrast between both ways of looking at the art work.
