INTRODUCTION

Traffic is formally organized in many jurisdictions, with marked lanes, junctions,

intersections, interchanges, traffic signals, or signs. Different classes may share speed limits
and easement, or may be segregated. Some jurisdictions may have very detailed and complex
rules of the road while others rely more on drivers' common sense and willingness to cooperate.
Traffic reporting is the near real-time distribution of information about road conditions
such as traffic congestion, detours, and traffic collisions. The reports help drivers anticipate
and avoid traffic problems. Traffic reports, especially in cities, may also report on major delays
to mass transit that does not necessarily involve roads. In addition to periodic broadcast reports,
traffic information can be transmitted to GPS units, smartphones, and personal computers.

Traffic conditions on the roads around UTHM are usually very busy due to the
increasing number of vehicles among students and university staff. The increase in the number
of vehicles rapidly occurs in line with the modern technological nowadays. Examples of
commonly used vehicles are motorcycles, cars, buses, and so on and the majority of
motorcycles are among students while the majority of car use is among university staff.

Behind the busy traffic conditions, various problems can occur and have harmful effects
to those involved such as accidents, injuries, time delays, traffic jamming and others. This
usually happens due to careless of drivers which is not caring about their own life and the other
drivers. For example of careless is not giving the signal during turning, not giving way to other
drivers, not focusing on driving, not obeying speed limit, and others.

Because of that, the main purpose of this project is to examine the percentage of
vehicles turning and show their signal at the junction near the E14 block in the UTHM area
(Figure 1). This junction was taken as a reference because there have been numerous accidents
and most of them caused by driver's negligence in displaying the signal during turning.

Figure 1 shows the junction which is the investigation area.

Besides that, in line with the latest technology era, various modern and expensive
vehicles are guided by UTHM students and staff. For more clarification, the types of vehicles
driven include local vehicles and non-local vehicles. Many differences between locally and
non-locally comparable vehicles, such as vehicle market prices, vehicle body resistance,
engine capabilities, and others.

Therefore, this project is also conducted to calculate the percentage of vehicles such
as local and non-local vehicles located around UTHM during peak hours. Through random
forecasts by any student and staff explained that the percentage of the number of local
vehicles is more than non-local vehicles because of local vehicle market price is much
cheaper than non-local vehicles. In addition, the latest statistics regarding the quality of local
vehicles are increasing and can match non-local vehicles.
