First Look at Power Explorer
You start the program by entering http://pdoxenapp/ then click Main > PDO Thin Applications
> Subsurface.
3
Seismic Tapes Archiving
In the “Task Tab”:
Go to PetroBank MDS > Archive Digital Data > Type specific > Archive object seismic tapes
(see Figure 2).
1. Place the cursor in Value cell of Archive object name Attribute and type the shipment
name between two percent signs (see Figure 3).
4
Figure 3: Archive object seismic tapes – Constraints Tab.
1. Metadata Archiving
In TabelView, select the entire row of metadata that have MET Pfx (see Figure 4).
In “Send To Tab”, double-click on MS Excel (see Figure 5). The selected row will be
sent to Excel.
Figure 4: TableView of archive object seismic tapes with the selected metadata.
5
Figure 5: Send To Tab.
When you start Excel, in the top left corner of the screen you will find the round Office
Button .
If you click on the Office button a menu pops up. Save the file as type: CSV (MS_DOS) in
Z:\operations\PetroBankFiles\UHP_Blended_data\XXXXX, where XXXXX is the
shipment name e.g. 17GNX.
The file name should be in specific format: MET_XXXXX_#, where XXXXX is the
shipment name and # is the shipment number. E.g. MET_17GNX_51.
Using the same TabelView, select the rows of FLD Pfx: Move the cursor to the corner of
the first FLD row. Hold down the Shift key on your keyboard and press the last FLD row.
As long as you hold down the Shift the selection will be adjusted .Release the Shift
key when you are done selecting (See Figure 6).
Figure 6: TableView of archive object seismic tapes with the selected FLDs.
6
Double-click on MS Excel. The selected rows will be sent to Excel.
Save the file as type: CSV (MS_DOS) in
Z:\operations\PetroBankFiles\UHP_Blended_data\XXXXX.
The file name should be in specific format: XXXXX_aaaa-bbbb.tapes, where XXXXX is
the shipment name, aaaa is the first tape number and bbbb is last tape number. E.g.
17GNX_0100-5500.tapes.
Using the same above selection, double-click on seismic acqn data files in Related
Information Tab (See Figure 7).
7
COPEX Generating Tool
You start the program by entering http://pdoxenapp/ then click Main > PDO Thin Applications
> Subsurface.
Select Tape Transcription then Generate Transcription File (See Figure 8).
In the top left corner of the application, click on left folder open icon . Select
XXXXX_aaaa-bbbb.tapes.
8
Then click on right folder open icon . Select XXXXX_aaaa-bbbb.files.
Click on save button to generate transcription file. Save the file as XXXXX.xas, where
XXXXX is the shipment name. E.g. 17GNX.xas.
FileZilla
In FileZilla, you need to drag the xas file you created above from local site
Z:\operations\PetroBankFiles\UHP_Blended_data\XXXXX\ to remote site
/usr/local/3D_FLD/XXXXX (See Figure 10).
9
Metadata Reading
First you need to remove the previous shipment from /tran/tmp. E.g. SHIPMENT051
vsm10% cd /tran/tmp
vsm10% ls –la
vsm10% \rm –rf SHIPMENT051
vsm10% pwd
/tran/tmp
vsm10% metrode 17GNX
You will be asked to enter the metadata tape number (e.g. 50). Then you should mount the tape
into drive and select the drive number from the menu (e.g. 1).
10
Once it finishes you will be asked if you want to copy the file to
/array/home/public/PE_UPD/CDRODE, say yes.
Tapes Reading
First you need to print the labels for the tapes using convram3592 command:
vsm10% cd /usr/local/3D_FLD/17GNX // you’ve to be in this directory first
vsm10% convram3592 17GNX.xas 17GNX.ram.in52
11
Copy the .import file (e.g. 18JWA.ram.in01.import) and type ram command as follows:
vsm10% cd /usr/local/3D_FLD/17GNX // you’ve to be in this directory first
vsm10% ram
The RODE Archive Manager window will appear as shown in Figure 11.
Select import from File menu. Paste .import file in the Import Flatfile field. In the Output Type
press on None button. Then click on Import button then Done (see Figure 12).
Next step is to make four copies of the .import file (e.g. 17GNX.ram.in52.import) as follows:
12
vsm10% cp 17GNX.ram.in52.import 17GNX.ram.in52.01.import
vsm10% cp 17GNX.ram.in52.import 17GNX.ram.in52.02.import
vsm10% cp 17GNX.ram.in52.import 17GNX.ram.in52.03.import
vsm10% cp 17GNX.ram.in52.import 17GNX.ram.in52.04.import
Divide the number of tapes so that it can be distributed equally to the 4 available drives. For
example if number of tapes is 48, each drive can accommodate 12 tapes. So edit the range of
each copy. For example put the first 12 tapes in .01.import file, then the next 12 tapes in
.02.import file and so on.
Now you can organize the tapes according to the division you made and label them. Then run
ramcopy.UHP & command four times and select the four .import files.
Then select one of the .import files, read the barcode of the tape and the drive device name.
13
Once the transcription is done, run ram command:
14
bc.input_source_bc between 'FLD_17GNX___0100' and
'FLD_17GNX___5500'
Then click on Select button and be sure that the Statement validated highlighted in green, then
click on Done (See Figure 17).
15
After that go to Attributes/View. The following window will appear:
Click on Snapshot button and add 'XXXXX.aaaa-bbbb.sum’ to Selection field, where XXXXX is
the shipment name, aaaa is the first tape number and bbbb is last tape number (See Figure 19).
16
Do ls –altr and you will find the .sum file in /usr/local/3D_FLD/xxxxx. Now we need to edit that
file. Type vi XXXXX.aaaa-bbbb.sum. As it seems in the picture below.
17
The file after deleting the specified area as in Figure 22.
Assigning VSNs
First reserve a range, go to 3D_FLD master file:
vsm10% cd /usr/local/3D_FLD
vsm10% ls -la *master
-rwxrwxr-x 1 ramuser geovect 512 Dec 6 12:48 3D_FLD.master
vsm10% vi 3D_FLD.master
Then select a free range and write project name, user name, group name, date and shipment
name respectively (see Figure 23).
18
Figure 23: 3D_FLD.master
Next step, type bld_vsn command with the project name (deforce), select G2 then select
3D_FLD.
The reserved range will be displayed; you need to select the option Add new VSNs. You will be
asked to enter the starting VSN and ending VSN. And for Starting extension it will be the
same as first tape number (See below).
19
vsm10% bld_vsn deforce
Select Geovation (G1 or G2)
1. G1
2. G2
2
Select data type (second node of directory tree):
(1) 2D_FLD (2) 3D_FLD
(3) 2D_PRE (4) 3D_PRE
(5) 2D_PST (6) 3D_PST
(7) 2D_TXT (8) 3D_TXT
(9) OTHERS (10)3D_MEG
(11) ex_dat (12)3D_DBL
2
VSN limits for 3D_FLD data: 400000 - 499999
Reserved ranges:
470001 - 480000 deforce noreimi PR5 181206 18JWA
OK - thanks.
