JAYAPURA

Jayapura is the capital of Papua province, Indonesia, on the island of New Guinea. It is situated
on Yos Sudarso Bay. August 13, 1768 a French sailor named LA Bougainvelle anchored in the
Gulf Numbay / Yos Sudarso. Long ago the city was known as Hollandia and was the capital of a
district of the same name in the northeast of West New Guinea. It was briefly called Kota Baru
and Sukarnopura before assuming its present name in 1968. The literal meaning of Jayapura, as
of Jaipur in Rajasthan, is 'City of Victory'.

In papua, every people known and like football very much. A lot of a good football player came
from the most Eastern province of Indonesia. And there is a lot of football team in there. One of
them is Persipura Jayapura. The 2 times Indonesia Super League champions had a stadium call
Mandala Stadium in Jayapura. Now, Persipura is the icon of football in Jayapura.

There are many places worth visiting like Sentani Lake. Sentani Lake is in Sentani District on an
area of 9,360 Ha and of 75 m above the sea level. It is a beautiful lake decorated by the hilly
islands. There are kinds of fish live in the lake, such as mujair (kind of freshwater fish widely
stocked in inland water), gabus (widely eaten freshwater fish), lele (freshwater catfish), tawes
(kind of freshwater fish), ikan mas (goldfish), ikan sembilan (fish with poisonous spirus), and
gurami fish.

of Papua and the country of Papua New Guinea.

Persipura: A professional football club based in Jayapura, Papua, Indonesia.

Indonesia super league: is an Indonesian professional league for association football clubs. At the
top of the Indonesian football league system, it is organized by PSSI (Football Association of
Indonesia).

Mandala Stadium: Located in downtown Jayapura around Dok V, near the mouth of Humboldt
Bay (otherwise known as Teluk Jayapura). The stadium is located approximately 40 kilometers
(25 miles) from Sentani Airport.
