Dear Dr. Bruce:

Before taking this class, I was worried that I would not be able to succeed in this course although I
may not have done as great as I would have hoped I do know that my writing has improved and it’s
all thank to this course. Through the editorial assignment I was able master SLO #2 as I was able to
use a variety of peer reviewed sources throughout my editorial. Which showed that I was able to use
a variety of sources from different articles and journals. I was also able to master SLO #3 and #5
through the editorial assignment as I was able to support the claims that I made which would help in
bolstering my analysis on my topic. The editorial showed that I was able to write objectively and
persuasively, and I was able to show the merits of opposing arguments but with my analysis I was
able to offer a strong opposing argument. Through my annotated Bibliography I was able to master
SLO #4 and clearly and coherently address a rhetorical situation while also employing contexts of
language and design that express influence and meaning as my Bibliography was a preview of how
my Editorial was supposed to be written.

I was also able to show improvement in SLO#6 by listening to the critiques that I received from my
peers and by guiding others by offering constructive criticism when I felt that there were some
improvements to be made. The peer review that I believe best showcased was the one I completed
for Micaela by offering different examples and ways that she could expand on information that she
offered in her editorial. I think that this cover letter does a great job of showcasing SLO #1 as I am
writing this letter in both a formal and informal manner and it is intended for a variety of audiences
both to you Dr. Bruce and whomever writes a peer review on my cover letter.

Overall, I think this class has helped me in improving my overall writing style most importantly on my
in-text citations. Another area that I felt I improved on was on how to write in a more concise
manner. I believed that I was already writing concisely but after reading the required readings I
believe I can write more effectively by using the knowledge I learned on conciseness This will be a
huge help in writing other papers that I will have throughout the next few semesters as I finish my
degree.
