• Oracle Mobile Timecards for Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS) empowers
users to quickly capture time worked while on the go, with minimal data
entry from your smart phone
• To use this app, you must be a user of Oracle Time and Labor, with mobile
services configured on the server side by your administrator
• Oracle E-Business Suite Mobile Foundation provides essential features and
technical updates on the server side for Oracle E-Business Suite mobile
apps

Mobile Framework Configuration

Mobile Framework Configuration
• For Timecards App to access the EBS server, the mobile configuration
service needs to be enabled using the following steps
• On an instance where mobile framework patches are installed

 Login as SYSADMIN user and
 Navigate to Mobile Applications Manager Responsibility

Mobile Framework Configuration – Set Parent Application
Navigate Mobile Applications Manager > search
Enter ‘Time and Labor Engine’ in the Parent Application field and search

Mobile Framework Configuration - Enabling
Change the Status to Enabled

Mobile Framework Configuration Confirmation
• To confirm if the configuration service has been successfully enabled,

try this url
http(s):<<your_host>>:<<port>>/OA_HTML/config/com.oracle.ebs.hr.hxc.Timecards/connections.xml
• This URL should display the connections.xml file. If the configuration

service is not enabled properly then a corresponding error is thrown

Add Role “Mobile Time Entry” to the responsibility used by the users
1. Login as Sysadmin, navigating to > User Management
2. Go to Roles & Role Inheritance
3. Query your responsibility and add role ‘Mobile Time Entry ‘to the responsibility

This step may be skipped for seeded OTL self service responsibilities.
This is a mandatory step for all custom responsibilities used to enter Time in SSWA

Timecard APP Configuration

Timecard APP Configuration: 'Timecards for EBS'
• Name of the app to download from App Store/Play Store is:
'Timecards for EBS' for both iOS and Android
• Download and install the App from authorized location
• Delivered on top of 12.1.3, HRMS.RUP6 and 12.2.3 releases

App available in Apple App Store/Play store

Timecard APP Configuration:
Server URL Format
• In the one-time configuration screen Key in
Oracle E-Business Suite Server URL in the
following format :
http(s)://<hostname>:<port>/OA_HTML/config

Login to APP
• After above configuration completes key in

username and password in the Login page to
authenticate the session
• In the Responsibilities page, choose the

appropriate responsibility to use Timecards App

Using a Configured Layout with Timecards App

Custom Configuration Steps
• Analyze the layout LDT files to identify View Objects (VO)

• Create Value Sets for the VO
• Run OTL: Upgrade Layouts for Mobile Time Entry

Custom Employee Preferences
Verify Employee preferences

Refer Custom Layout LDT files to figure out VOs
Custom Attribute Shift Premium Custom Attribute Job

Verify Custom view definition/SQL query in VO
• Review the query in the VOs used in the

layout. In this case, they are based on
Custom2VO and Custom4VO.
• Review the query in the HXC_CUI views used
by CustomXVOs.

Create Value Sets for the Custom2VO
• No naming standards. Just need to be easy to remember • Value field takes the Display Value column
• Format Validation does not really matter • ID field takes the Value column
• Value Validation to be always table type

Create Value sets for the Custom4VO

Add the Upgrade program
• Add OTL: Upgrade Layout for Mobile Time

Entry to the Request Group attached to the
responsibility.

Run the Upgrade program
• Invoke the Concurrent Program

• Choose Yes for the first parameter if you
are making a change to an already
upgraded layout.
• Select the Layout you want to upgrade.

Run the Upgrade Program • Once the Layout is selected the layout attributes
are populated automatically.
• Package choice lists do not need an entry in this
Upgrade program. They are automatically
upgraded.
• Against each Layout attribute, a value set should
be chosen.
• All value sets populated.
• Note the new value sets we created for the
custom attributes.
• Once the program OTL: Upgrade Layouts for
Mobile Time Entry, completes to Success, the
layout is ready for use.

• A maximum of 7 Layout attributes are allowed for Mobile Time Entry

• LOVs cannot be dependent on a Hidden Attribute
• Only one layout attribute is allowed to store Hidden Attributes
• A maximum of 3 Hidden Attributes are allowed per layout

• Bind Variables supported are

Person Id, Timecard Start Date, Timecard End Date and Alias Definition Id
• Text Fields and Descriptive Flexfields are not currently supported

Diagnostics

Enabling Client Logging
• Select Settings > Diagnostics. In the
Diagnostics screen, enable the client
logging feature by turning on
the Logging option
• Navigate back to the navigation menu
and reproduce the reported issue.
• Come back to Diagnostics and Tap on
the Email Icon to report

Reporting Client Log
• In the Email compose screen, enter the
following information:
– To: email address of the administrator
– Subject: Information specific to the issue
– Message: Describe the issue
• Send the Email with the log file as attachment

Enabling Server Side Log
• Common Logging and Diagnostics option available in (EBS)
• The following profile options to be used at User level
– FND: Debug Log Enabled (AFLOG_ENABLED)
– FND: Debug Log Module (AFLOG_MODULE)
– FND: Debug Log Level (AFLOG_LEVEL)
• Additional OTL specific log available in table HXC_MOB_LOG
• All columns from HXC_MOB_LOG for the user required specific queries to
be provided by Development on a case to case basis

Troubleshooting

Mobile Timecards > Common issue – No access
You do not have access to use this mobile application. Please contact your
System Administrator.
Probable Cause
“Mobile Time Entry” Role has not been added to the responsibility (or) “Mobile
Time Entry” Menu is missing.
Resolution
Add the “Mobile Time Entry” role to the responsibility and “Mobile Time Entry”
menu as a submenu to the associated responsibility.
Please refer to the white paper available in MOS Doc ID 1671889.1 for more
details.

Mobile Timecards > Common issue – Absence Integration Invalid
Setup
Invalid Setup: Absence Integration is enabled

Probable Cause
OTL Absence Integration is enabled for this user via OTL Preferences.
Resolution
The V1 version of mobile Timecard app does support OTL Absence
Integration. Please disable the Integration to use mobile timecard app.

Mobile Timecards > Common issue – Audit Layout Invalid Setup
Invalid Setup: Audit Layout has been set.

Probable Cause
User has OTL preference set up with an Audit Layout.
Resolution
Change and Late Audit feature is not supported in V1 version.
Remove the value in Audit Layout, (6th segment) in SS timecard layout
preference.

Mobile Timecards > Common issue – Audit Preference Invalid
Setup
Invalid Setup: Audit Preferences has been enabled.

Probable Cause
SS timecard flow is set to Audit
Resolution
Set SS timecard flow to Standard. Audit flow is linked to CLA feature which
is not enabled for mobile timecards.

Mobile Timecards > Common issue – Audit Time Entry Rule Invalid
Setup
Invalid Setup: Audit Time Entry Rule has been set.

Probable Cause
Time Store Audit Requirements is set to a valid Time entry rule.
Resolution
Set Time Store Audit Requirements to NULL. Audit Time Entry Rule is
linked to CLA feature which is not enabled for mobile timecards.

Mobile Timecards > Common issue – Responsibility Invalid Setup
You must use <<RESP>> responsibility for this action.

Probable Cause
This issue occurs when multiple responsibilities are enabled for mobile
timecards. Timecard created with one responsibility cannot be modified
using another responsibility.
Resolution
User must use the corresponding responsibility to modify the timecard.
Navigate to Settings -> Responsibility and select the correct responsibility.

Mobile Timecards > Common issue – Hours Type Error
You must enter <<FIELDS>>.

Eg: You must enter Hours Type.
Probable Cause
Timecard has one or more mandatory fields and user has not entered all the
required fields.
Resolution
User must key in all the required fields. <<FIELDS>> in the error message are
the mandatory fields.

Mobile Timecards > Common issue – Timecard cannot be found
Submit Failed. Timecard cannot be found.

Save Failed. Timecard cannot be found.
Delete Failed. Timecard cannot be found.
Probable Cause
The administrator or user has deleted the specific timecard in Timestore,
there is a discrepancy in the data between the device and Timestore.
Resolution
Delete the timecard, logout and log in to continue working.

Mobile Timecards > Common issue – Timecard Period Error
Timecard period does not match your setup. You must delete this timecard.
Probable Cause
User's SS timecard period was changed after a timecard was pending in Draft
status in the device.
Resolution
Delete the timecard in Draft status, logout and log in to continue working.

Mobile Timecards > Common issue – Creating Time Entry Error
You cannot create this Time Entry.

Probable Cause
SS status allowing edit preference does not allow user to create this
timecard.
Resolution
Adjust Future Number of days and Past number of days preference
values.

Mobile Timecards > Known Issues - Visibility Issue
Time entries entered on the mobile are not visible on the self service
timecard.
Resolution
Time entries entered on mobile are saved in “Draft” status which is not
visible to time store. Submit the Timecard in mobile device to view the
time entries in self service.

Mobile Timecards > Known Issues – Improper total hours
Deleting time entries in Calendar page does not reflect the total hour
changes
Resolution
The Total hours data is not automatically refreshed, refresh the page by
swiping down to get the latest data.

Mobile Timecards > Known Issues – Different Total Hours
Timecard and Timecard Details page shows different total hour values.
Resolution
Data corruption issue, delete the timecard and recreate.

Mobile Timecards > Known Issues – Empty Detail Page
Timecard list shows hours, but details page shows empty timecard
Resolution
Might be a temporary caching issue, try again by logging out and
logging in. If issue persist delete the timecard and recreate it.

Mobile Timecards > Known Issues – No data shown
After idle timeout, app does not show any data.
Resolution
Sign out from the application and sign in again.

Mobile Timecards > Known Issues – Intermittent pages
EULA(End User License Agreement) pages comes up intermittently/

Settings pages comes up intermittently.
Resolution
This is an ADFmf issue, we are working with them for a fix. Close the
app from the list of open apps and try again
