THE GENESIS
Formed in Canada in 1902, the Anglican Young People's Association (A.Y.P.A) was introduced to Ghana in
1951 by the late Bishop Aruna Kojo Nelson. The first branch was established at the Saint Michael and All
Angels Anglican Church in Korle Gonno where he was the parish priest.
From a very humble beginning, the association grew very rapidly and by 1956, more branches had been
formed. The association was organised on national level and today has presence in eight dioceses (Accra,
Koforidua, Ho, Cape Coast, Kumasi, Sekondi-Takoradi, Wiawso, Sunyani and Tamale) in the country. It is
present in almost all Anglican parishes throughout the country.
The St. Stephen Branch, Tema, of the A.Y.P.A was formed in the year 1992 with the late Abraham Decardi-
Nelson as its first President.
WHAT WE DO
We focus on increasing the effectiveness of the individuals, programmes and systems that support youth
development. We understand youth development principles and the need of young people.
We build capacity in educational, career, relationship, peer, marriage and health counselling. We also
develop capacity to handle troubled young people.
The Association sets out to make young people firm in faith and ready to serve our Lord and His
Church. The association is centred on four principles 'work, edification, fellowship and worship'. Our
Motto is 'For Christ and the Church’

7.2.4 Revival
In line with the AYPA's cardinal principle of worship, a 2-day spirit filled revival was held on
th st
Thursday 20 and Friday 21 July 2017. The guest preacher was Rev'd. Fr. Edward Foli-
Adade, Parish Priest of St. Justin Anglican Church, Ablekuma. He gave an exposition on the
Anniversary theme 'Attitude of Gratitude' Psalm 139:14b. In his sermon, he identified Bible
personalities who were blessed beyond measure for being gratitude to their maker to
preach his sermon. He urged the youth and the church to be appreciative of whatever they
have and always give thanks to God.
7.2.7 Donation
The Association strongly believe that, helping people is a universal principle and true
religion is being kind to the destitute. In line with the Anniversary theme 'Attitude of
Gratitude”, assorted food items valued at several Thousands of Ghana Cedis were donated
to inmates of James Camp Prison, Accra on Saturday 29th July 2017 . Items presented
included Bags of rice, sacks of sugar, detergents, drinks, provisions and toiletries. Members
joined the inmates to worship and fellowship, after which they interacted and fed them.
The Resident Chaplain at James Camp Prison was full of praise and admiration for the kind
gesture. Participants described the event as touching and an eye opener.
7.2.10 Thanksgiving
The 25th Anniversary Celebration was climaxed with a thanksgiving service on Sunday, 6th
August 2017 during the 9:00am service. Great Entrance was held to symbolize
appreciation to God for the life and strength to participate in all the activities slated for the
Anniversary. The entire congregation joined in the thanksgiving service. The church's
atmosphere was brightened to life as everyone wore their rich Kente cloth, which was the
official attire for the thanksgiving service. After close of service, there was a mega photo
shoot of members to capture the sizzling moment of the day.

13.0 Challenges

keep long at meetings, thereby closing late.
· Irregular attendance to ADC and TAC monthly Council Meetings.
14.0 Recommendations
·Members are being encouraged to participate fully in TAC and ADC activities
15.0 Appreciation
The branch is very grateful to God for His protection, guidance and loving kindness during
the period, and His divine assistance even in time of our challenges. The branch is thankful
to all who in diverse ways helped the association during the period under review. Our
Special gratitude goes to the Parish Priest, Rev'd. Can. Stephen Adjei and the Priest
Assisting, Rev'd. Fr. Thomas Wilson Jacobs who left us in the last days of the period under
review, for giving the youth every single opportunity to be involved and serve on
committees and the P.C.C, which in other Parishes is the preserve of adults. The
Association is also grateful to Rev'd. Chris Ashong for availing himself anytime we called on
him as a guest to our programmes during his internship period with the parish.
Great appreciation goes to the Wardens, the Parish Church Council, all guilds and
associations of the church for their continuous prayers for the association. Kudos to our
patrons and ex-officio's for their technical advice, and standing solidly behind us for the
period. We cannot leave out our dedicated members who have been with the association
through thick and thin. We say God richly bless you in your endeavours.

REPORT OF THE AUDITOR TO THE MEMBERS OF ST. STEPHEN BRANCH OF THE A.Y.P.A
I have audited the Fund Accountability Statement and the accompanying Bank Statements of the
St. Stephen Branch of the A.Y.P.A for the period 1st August 2016 to 31 st July 2018.
The Branch’s Executive Body is responsible for the preparation of the Fund Accountability
Statement. My responsibility is to express an opinion on the Financial Statement based on my
audit.
I have conducted my audit in accordance with International Standard on Auditing and Ghana
auditing standard. Those standards require that we plan and perform the audit to obtain
reasonable assurance about whether the financial statements are free of material misstatement.
An audit includes examining, on a test basis, evidence supporting the amount and disclosures in
the financial statements.
In my opinion, the financial statements present fairly, in all material aspects, the financial position
of the St. Stephen Branch of the A.Y.P.A for the period 1st August 2016 to 31st July 2018.
