1. What is meant by inference?


Answer: Conclusions are a proposition (sentences delsivered) taken from several premises (ideals od
thought) with inference rules (which apply). Conclusion is an idea that is an idea that is reached at the
end of the conversation. In other world, conclusions are the result of a conversation.

2.What will you combine in making inferences?

Answer: Take the main ideas of each paragraph and then combine the main ideas.

3.Make three inferences from the sentences below!


My wife and I tried to pack light but we made sure not to forget our bathing suits and
sunblock. I wasn’t sure if I would get seasick again so I made sure to pack some medicine for
my stomach.

4. The average age of the population of many countries is getting older. It means that
businesses in those countries most adjust too older customer. In fact, many companies are
working to respond to the special needs of elderly. One example of this is the medical
industry. New medicines and technologies are being developed especially for the health
problems of older people. Another business that offers services for the elderly is tourist
industry. Many travel agents offer special trips for groups of older people. Finally, there are
many different kinds of products made for the elderly. These include everything from shoes
and shampoos to magazines and furniture.

that their jobs could go to younger people but early retirement has created new economic.

10. The “idea box” is a useful concept in management. It was first introduced in the early 20th
century by Kodak in the United States and Michelin in France. The managers of these
companies used idea boxes to collect suggestions from employees about improving
production. Today the idea box is not used much in the United States or Europe. However, it
used a lot in Japan. Japanese managers have found it to be a very valuable resource.
Employees often know more than managers about the details of production. In the long run,
their suggestions can make a real difference to the company. Employees who offer useful
ideas may receive extra money in their paychecks.
