Laughing Waters
Blue Green Sustainability Charter

This Charter consists of a series of key principles of sustainability to

which we subscribe. This will serve both a framework and a public
commitment to the long-term sustainable development of Laughing
Waters

Summary of Blue Green Sustainability Charter

The Principles within the Charter are grouped to reflect the main
'pillars' of Sustainability. It is important to note that they must be
considered in relation to each other, and not in isolation.

We consider environmental and social impacts in relation to our

activities.

Meets our needs as locally as possible and does not violate human
rights or transfer our problems elsewhere.

Ensures everyone can live, work, study and play within a high
quality environment with rich biodiversity.

Reduces waste and pollution and ensures we use our resources

wisely.

Key Environmental principles we will abide by - Individually

and collectively we will abide by these golden rules:

Golden Rule 1: Modify our activities to ensure they are consistent

with current scientific and technical understanding, and apply a
precautionary approach to possible harm to the environment.
Contribute to the provision of high quality neighborhood
environments with sufficient accessible open spaces, protect and
enhance bio diversity and create a more ecologically diverse
‘natural’ environment that is pleasant and safe for all.

Golden Rule 2: Encourage management in the use of renewable

resources such as water, soil, timber etc in ways that protect the
health of ecosystems. Wherever possible we will manage our use of
non-renewable resources, such as minerals and fossil fuels, in ways
that minimise depletion and cause no serious environmental
damage.

Golden Rule 3: Apply the hierarchy of reduce, reuse, recycle,

recover and disposal to waste and ensure the provision of facilities
to maximize reuse and recycling. We will develop and provide
products or services that are efficient in their consumption of energy
and natural resources, and that can be reused, recycled, or disposed
of safely.

Golden Rule 4: We will act and make it happen. Our guiding theme
will be “Don’t curse the darkness – Light a candle”

This quarter (July Aug Sept) goals:

1. Double the current tree footprint by planting more trees –

Total tree target – 2000 trees

2. Reduce water consumption by influencing residents to go for

rainwater harvesting. Currently our bore well is on for 18
hours – we target to 10 hrs

3. Currently STP phase 1 water is wasted to the storm water

drain. We need to resuse it – starting with the park area. We
should deplete our ground water for gardening
