Question: What you learnt or were surprised by regarding your EQ assessment, SALNA Quiz and Listening Skills Quizzes?

After having an idea about what the corporate world is looking for, emotional intelligence is something that had to be developed thoroughly. The
EQ Quiz tested the emotional intelligence under various categories and this has helped me understand my weaknesses (Positive outlook
18/25) and strengths (Emotional self awareness 24/24) which I was previously was not aware of and has given me an opportunity to develop
my skills. (Appendix 1).

Academic skills are profoundly connected to our day to day activities. And is one of the main skills that employers are looking for unfortunately
being the least performed category by graduates. And this quiz has provided greater analysis of my academic skills and has shown me the
areas that have to be developed in order to perform my best. (Appendix 2)

Active listening and proper participation are the key elements of a successful listener. The detailed result provided has greatly helped me
improve my existing skills and discover skills that are significant. As listening is given greater importance according to the Communicating in
the 21st Century 4th Edition, Chapter 10, p346 statistics. (Appendix 3)

1
Question: What strengths did these self-assessments reveal to you?

Emotional self awareness and empathy are important skills revealed through the EQ quiz (Appendix 1) and week 2 lecture brought out the
importance of it. (Emotional Self awareness 24/25) As well as acceptable task interpretation skills play a major role in a university students’
life. And the SALNA Quiz made me aware of my task interpretation skills as well as my academic language skills. Not only did it indicate my
skills but also showed me the areas that I perform weak and its detailed report guided me of how the weak areas can be Improved. (Appendix

The skill of active participation is a valuable feature of a good listener. And the listening quiz made me aware of my skill level and also revealed
my preparation skills that weren’t given enough importance previously. And the week two lecture explained the importance of a good listener.
(Appendix 3)

Question: What developmental opportunities did these self-assessments reveal to you?

Areas such as positive outlook, Emotional self control, adaptability and text analysis are areas that I performed weak. And these have pointed
out my weaknesses and have created room for improvement. And the team activities done in the workshops (Eg; Mind maps) are already
contributing remarkably towards the improvement of my low performed areas and through constant practise I would overcome my weaknesses
in 2-3 weeks time. Because in compared to the beginning of my semester bigger changes have happened on way I used to see things and I am
motivated daily to perform the best of me. (Appendix 1) (Appendix 2) (Appendix 3)

2
Question: What will you do now as a result of what you have learnt? (minimum of 150 words)

In order to improve the way to look at things positively I will be engaged in motivational programmes and participate in more group activities
where I will be able to see things from other people point of view and by responding to the members in agreement and disagreement will
simultaneously improve my listening skills. Through the participation in group activities done in the previous weeks I happened to discover my
strengths through my members and also realise the areas I performed weak when we worked together.

In order to improve the academic skills I will be engaged in Academic Programmes held at the university (eg: Employment evening) where a
training would be provided to improve different areas. And take online examinations in order to make sure that the events have had an effect on
my skills and use the mind map technique to further analyse and develop my weak areas. And see the overall picture of my journey.
