CE : Inspirational Speeches

All three texts are inspirational speeches. In the first text,

Obama is addressing the American citizens. He wants to
convince them to believe his words and to vote for him.
In text 2, William Wallace is addressing an army. He wants
to persuade them to fight for their freedom.
As for the third text, Malala is addressing the United
Nations. She wants to convince people that education is
the most important thing in the world.
These speeches make use of figures of speech like:

“silenced” , “pens and books” vs “guns”
- Hyperbole – “One child, one teacher … can change
the world”, “books and pens – they are the most
powerful weapons”
- Anaphora – text 1:“just words?”, “just speeches?”;
Text 3: “we realise”

We teenagers belong to a strange tribe. Adults
sometimes don’t understand us. We wear
headphones because music is part of our lives, not
because we want to isolate ourselves from them.
We check our smartphone more than 100 times a day
because we love to hear from our friends not because
their conversation is boring (even if sometimes it is).
