REFLECTION: ITEM DEVELOPMENT AND ANALYSES

Now that it’s over, what are my first thoughts about this overall project? Are they mostly
positive or negative?
This project is about items development and analyses. It’s really a good experience doing this
project as our assignment because we are education course so it’s very useful in the future. So, it
a positive project for me.

If positive, what comes to mind specifically? Negative?

It’s positive because I learned on how to design a good question/test to students. Also, learned to
prepare answer’s scheme and also test the score reliability using SPSS.

What were some of the most interesting discoveries I made while working on this project?
About the problem? About myself? About others?
The problem was its new experience to some of us using SPSS software. So, it take some time to
us to explore the video given by lecturer and try to apply in our project. Other than that, I’ve got
to learn on using SPSS software to test reliability, calculate standard deviation, and everything
that required to done this project. Other than, our group discovered that most of our items fall
under easy and moderate level difficulty. So, our results of reliability are not that good.

What would I do differently if I were to approach the same problem again?

In future, if I were given chance to design a test/questions, I will carefully and make sure the
items are chosen carefully. Also, I will test each item by referring to bloom taxonomy level so
that the items have some quality.

What were some of my most challenging moments and what made them so?
Challenging moments is when to transfer all the data into SPSS software because we worried
that we doing it wrong way. Other than, its challenging to me to do the analyses items in report
because there no specific instruction to the analyses also the discussion part.

What were some of my most powerful learning moments and what made them so?
The most powerful learning moments in doing this project is to learn on how to create a good
quality test to respondent also how to test the items that we designed is good or not. Its because
as a future educator I want to designed a good quality test or items to my students.
How did I incorporate the concepts that I have learned so far in the SGDE 4013:
Assessment in Learning class, in the Assignment? Which specific topic?
In this project, its related in subject that I learned in assessment subject which are topics on items
discrimination, items difficulty, reliability of score. For item discrimination is to test whether the
items are suitable for good student, not that good or normal. While, item difficulty show about
whether the items construct falls under easy, moderate or difficult level, then lastly about
reliability of the score to see whether the score is falls under which category either poor,
moderate or very reliable.

How well did I and my team communicate overall?

It’s interesting to work my team members; they were such a great teamwork especially when
we’re assigned to this task/project. We communicate very positively and professional in our
work. We divided our task equally by voting so that everyone will feel fair.

What were some things my teammates did that helped me to learn or overcome obstacles?
Every time I don’t understand on certain thing, my team member will help to clear my
understanding. Furthermore, we did this project all together so that we all learn on how to do this
project and learn new knowledge especially on SPSS. So far as a team, we didn’t face any big or
critical issue.

How did I help others during this process? How do I feel I may have hindered others?
I always give Full Corporation with my teammate. I will make sure to do my part best as I can
and help my teammate whenever in problem.

What did I learn were my greatest strengths? My biggest areas for improvement?
My strength I will make sure to finish my part in time before hand. Besides that, I improve in
doing my work by understand what I did and refer to any sources if need ideas.

How will I use what I’ve learned in the future?

I will use what I learnt especially knowledge about using SPSS software and knowledge
experience working as a team with my team. On dividing our work equally, do our part and
finished it in time, and professional in every action we take.
