systems

(petro)chemical industry and at the storage, transfer and
processing facilities of flammable liquids, liquid natural gas and
petroleum gases.
Features
Saval's fixed water spray cooling systems
are purpose designed and manufactured

outdoors in marine and tropical weather
conditions. This requires the use of
corrosion resistant materials and

Applications
Saval is specialised in the design,
manufacturing and supply of water spray
cooling systems for the protection of
flammable liquid storage tanks, LPG and
LNG storage tanks, process equipment. In
general these fixed water spray systems
are used for cooling of tanks or equipment,
containing hazardous fuels in order to
remove the radiant or convection heat
from an adjacent fire.
The application of water to hot surfaces
requires professional expertise during
design, construction and commissioning of
these systems.

 WATER SPRAY
Water
Water is the most effective cooling agent
and is commonly used. The availability on
industrial plants is normally well
maintained, using fire pumps and fire
mains.
Control of systems
Water spray systems can be manually or
automatically controlled. In case of
automatic control this can be achieved by
a pneumatic activation system, directly on
the deluge valve or by a separate
electronic fire detection system with
remote electric signal to the deluge valve.

Water spray is one of the most powerful
cooling media for protection of oil and
petrochemical plants, LNG and LPG plants
and tank farms. For an optimum
performance of the system the design,
construction and commissioning of the
system shall meet the highest quality and
reliability standards.
System design
Water spray systems are designed
according international standards, such as
NFPA or according customer's design and
engineering practises. Construction
materials can be chosen by the client,
based on the possible corrosive properties
of the environment or of the used water.
Control valves can be made of cast steel as
well as from bronze, alubronze, stainless
steel or duplex steel. Spray nozzles can be
made of bronze or stainless steel. Piping
shall be made of galvanised carbon steel
as a minimum, whilst special GRE is also a
possibility.
Engineering
Saval has installed CO2-, Clean Agent-,
Foam-, Water spray- and Fixed Dry Powder
Systems all over the world for more than
50 years. During this period Saval has
become the specialist in these
extinguishing and fire control systems.
Research and field experience gained with
these systems has been used to optimize
these systems. For every application, the
Saval team will offer a custom-designed
system.
