LESSON 1 The Macedonian Cyrillic Alphabet

The Macedonian alphabet is a form of the Cyrillic alphabet. It consists of 31 letters and each
letter corresponds to a single sound. There are 5 vowels: A, E, I, O, U. The remaining sounds
are consonants.
The stress in the Macedonian language in all one-syllable, two-syllable and three-syllable
words falls on the first syllable. In the case when a word has more than three syllables the
stress falls on the third syllable from the end of the word (antepenultimate syllable).
