Target Audience
Comprehensive ophthalmologists, cornea, cataract, glaucoma and retina specialists and ophthalmology fellows and residents.
Activity Description
This educational activity is designed to update participants on current and emerging treatment and surgical techniques and technologies
available in the field of ophthalmology. Included will be the latest information on managing traumatic cataracts, the role of big data in
glaucoma treatment, slowing myopia progression, rethinking Fuchs’ dystrophy treatment, the benefits of imaging in ophthalmology, the role of
telemedicine in eye care and the impact of changing health policy and regulations on the practice of ophthalmology.
Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity the learner should have improved his/her ability to:
 Discuss techniques for managing traumatic cataracts
 Outline the role of the data available through the IRIS registry in helping physicians consider risk factors and confounders that can
inform their ability to monitor different models of care for glaucoma patients and improve outcomes
 List interventions for slowing progression of myopia
 Discuss the advantages of tele-ophthalmology monitoring of common vision-threatening eye conditions
 List the benefits of imaging in ophthalmology
 Discuss the benefits of Descemet stripping in the treatment of Fuchs’ endothelial corneal dystrophy
