The Problem

The main problem of the study is to find out the relationships between

multiple intelligences and the grade point averages in Mathematics, Skills and

Language subjects of the senior high school students.

Further, the study tend to find out the student-respondents demographic

profile in terms of sex, age, age by sex, birth order, parents' monthly income,

parents' monthly income by family size, family size, fathers' educational attainment,

mothers' educational attainment, fathers' occupation, mothers' occupation and

ethno-linguistic origin.

Research Methodology

The study utilized the descriptive-conelation method of research to describe

systematically a situation or area of interest factually and accurately.

POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES

Moreso, the survey research method was also utilized in this study to employ

questionnaires and interviews in order to determine opinions, attitudes,

preferences, and perceptions of interest to the researcher.

The respondents of this study are the selected senior high school students of

public high school, namely, Madapdap Resettlement High School, Dolores National

High School and Tinajero High School.

The instrument used in the study is the Multiple lntelligence lnventory, it is

used to determine the types and domains of multiple intelligences that students

possessed, and Students' Form 137 to determine the grade point averages in

Mathematics, Skills and Language subjects.

To satisff values of two categorical variables on the mntingency tables

weighted trequency distribution was employed, it is used to present raw data and

tallied results showing how many among the respondents gave a particular answer.

To describe the grade point averages in Mathematics, Skills and Language

Subjects, descriptive statistics was used. lt is used to summarize, or describe data.

To determine tie student-respondents demographic characteristics

percentage ratio was used. lt is used to describe how a part oompares with the

whole.

To better describe the student-respondents' types and domains of multiple

intelligences, Arithmetic mean of ten (10) and Arithmetic mean of three (3) groups

were used. Arithmetic mean is used to for grouped data and it is a value used to

represent a set of numerical data.

POLYTECHNIC UNIVERSTTY OF THE PHILIPPINES

ln describing the Grade Point Average, standard deviation was determined,

it is used to measure the variability to indicate variation of the variables.

ln determining whether there is a significant relationship between the

student's types and domains of multiple intelligences and grade point averages in

Mathematics, Skills and Language Subjects Pearson conelation coefficient (r) was

used. lt is used to measure the strength of the linear relationship between two
variables.

Recommendations

Based on the conclusion, the following were re@mmended: ln order to help

the student-respondents of this study and all those in the same state of life, the

government should: (1) Pass and approve an ordinan€ creating the Local Youth

Government Council to implement the youth development program down to

barangay, (2) Provide supplemental programs in enhancing the child-rearing skills

of parents, (3) Create projects to turn idle housewives of marginat families into

productive partners in their respeclive households, (4) Empower women by giving

them a start-up fund through the Plant Now Pay Later Loan Program of the
Provincial Agriculture's Office to bring tremendous impact to the lives of
disadvantaged families. The loan is payable in three yearc at zero interest, and (5)

lncrease teacher's salary and fringe benefits so they be strongly motivated to teach

their students effectively.

Administrators should strengthen the instructional skills of teachers through

the use of creative and innovative teaching strategies by requiring teachers to

attend conferences, training programs, seminar-workshops on: (1) Development of

the multiple intelligences of students Enhancement of conceptual skills of teachers

through thorough understanding of various models of teaching, (2) Use of multi-

media, audio-visual aids/illustrations in teaching, and (3) Models of Teaching,

Modem Theories of Teaching, and Teacher Empowerment.

Enhancement of conceptual skills of teachers through thorough

understanding of various models of teaching: (1) Use of multi-media, audio-visual

aidVillustrations in teaching, (2) Models of Teaching, Modem Theories of Teaching,

and Teacher Empowerment, and (3) Conduct researches to equip teachers with

new array of information on how to enrich their instructional skills,

It is recommended that the instrument used in this study be further validated

to adequately measure students' multiple intelligences in another fields of interests

and setting, and also conduct an experimental study on the effects of multiple

intelligences.
