THERAPEUTIC INDICATIONS
Treatment and prevention of infections caused by germs sensitive to
amoxicillin and/or colistin. These include infections of the respiratory,
gastrointestinal, urogenital and skin and soft tissue infections and
prevention of secondary bacterial infections.
In birds, infections caused by Clostridium perfringens, Escherichia coli,
Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale, Pasteurella multocida, Staphylococcus
aureus and in particular, enteric (colibacillosis) and respiratory
(pasteurellosis) processes.
ROUTES OF ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
Intramuscular route.
● Large animals and dogs: 1 mL/10 Kg (10 mg Amoxicillin/Kg and 25 000
IU/kg colistin) per day (this dose can be administered in a single dose or
divided into two applications per day) for 3-5 days.
● Birds: 0.2 mL/kg for 3 days
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
● Meat: Pigs 13 days. Others: 25 days.
● Milk: Do not administer to animals whose milk is destined for human
consumption.
● Do not administer to animals whose eggs are destined for human
consumption
PRECAUTIONS
● Shake before using.
● Do not administer more than 20 mL at the same injection point.
● Do not administer in cases of hypersensitivity to the formula ingredients.
● It is contraindicated in animals affected by kidney diseases of a
degenerative nature.
● Keep out of reach of children.

● Do not handle this product if you know that it is sensitive or if you have
been advised not to work with such preparations.
● Handle this product with great care to avoid exposure, taking all
recommended precautions.
● If symptoms appear after exposure, such as a skin rash, you should
seek medical advice and show the doctor this warning.
● Swelling of the face, lips or eyes or difficulty breathing are more serious
symptoms and require urgent medical attention.
STORAGE
Store in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Store between 15 - 30ºC.

DESCRIPCIÓN
Amoxycol® IS es una asociación antibiótica bactericida -sinérgica de
amplio espectro- para su administración por vía inyectable. Provee 100
mg/mL de actividad de amoxicilina y 8.33 mg/g de colistina (250,000 UI/mL
actividad). Está indicado para la prevención y el tratamiento de un gran
número de infecciones en las principales especies domésticas.
FARMACOCINETICA/FARMACODINAMIA
Amoxicilina
La amoxicilina es una penicilina semisintética de amplio espectro, que
ejerce su acción por inhibición de la síntesis de la pared celular bacteriana
Su acción incluye tanto a bacterias Gram (+) como Gram (–). Su absorción
es rápida y completa luego de su administración parenteral. Se liga a las
proteínas plasmáticas y difunde amplia y rápidamente. Presenta un
elevado tropismo pulmonar alcanzando una concentración a nivel de la
mucosa bronquial similar a la concentración plasmática. Se excreta
principalmente por vía urinaria y bilis.
Es estable en un ambiente ácido y tiene una absorción gastroentérica
mayor del 80% de la dosis administrada. Al ser inyectada, por vía
parenteral, la absorción es rápida y completa (al 15 % de las proteínas
plasmáticas).
Se propaga ampliamente y rápidamente, lo que permite obtener
concentraciones de sangre y tejido más altas que las MIC promedio. Tiene
un alto tropismo pulmonar, alcanzando una concentración en el nivel del
moco bronquial igual al doble de la concentración sanguínea; La lisis
bacteriana es más rápida que la obtenida con ampicilina. Está libre de
toxicidad. Se elimina en forma activa principalmente por el tracto urinario.
Colistina
La colistina es un polipéptido cíclico (polimixina), que ejerce un efecto
antibiótico desorganizando la membrana bacteriana, con salida de material
intracelular.
Es estable en un ambiente ácido (pH entre 3 y 6). Cuando es administrada
por vía parenteral, la colistina es rápidamente absorbida y difunde
fácilmente, alcanzando niveles tisulares más elevados y hemáticos
prolongados. Es activa selectivamente contra gérmenes Gram -, entre ellos
E. Coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, Haemophilus spp. Ornithobacterium
rhinotracheale, Pasteurella spp., Pseudomona spp., Salmonela spp.,
Shigella spp., Bordetella spp. entre otros, mientras que su acción contra
Gram + es mínima.
Después de la administración oral, en forma de sulfato, no se absorbe
desde el tracto gastrointestinal, ejerciendo acción antibacteriana sólo
localmente y permitiendo, por lo tanto, un nivel objetivo de la terapia tracto
gastrointestinal, donde normalmente las infecciones son compatibles con
microorganismos Gram-negativos.
Sobre la Asociación
La asociación, utilizada parenteralmente, ofrece un efecto aditivo y
sinérgico; traduciéndose en una terapia sistémica de mayor eficacia que la
que tienen por separado. Adicionalmente, la gran seguridad en su uso y la
poca posibilidad de generación de resistencia (principalmente a
Gram-positivos), elevan la posibilidad de éxito

El fenómeno de resistencia, no completamente conocido, es extremadamente
raro. Como dato importante, la asociación de colistina-amoxicilina para uso
oral, presenta efecto adicional y permite por las dos farmacocinéticas
diferentes de los ingredientes activos para lograr simultáneamente una
terapia especifica del tracto gastrointestinal por la colistina (que no es
entero-absorbida) y una terapia sistémica, en particular de aparato
respiratorio, urinario y tegumentario por una amoxiclina (que es
entero-absorbida).
ESPECIES DE DESTINO
Bovinos, equinos, ovinos, caprinos, porcinos, camélidos sudamericanos,
caninos y aves.
INDICACIONES TERAPÉUTICAS
Tratamiento y prevención de infecciones causadas por gérmenes
sensibles a la amoxicilina y/o colistina. Entre ellas infecciones del aparato
respiratorio, gastrointestinal, urogenital e infecciones de piel y tejidos
blandos y prevención de infecciones bacterianas secundarias.
En aves, infecciones causadas por Clostridium perfringens, Escherichia coli,
Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale, Pasteurella multocida, Staphylococcus
aureus y en particular, procesos entéricos (colibacilosis) y respiratorios
(pasteurelosis).
VIAS DE ADMINISTRACIÓN Y DOSIFICACIÓN
Vía Intramuscular.
● Animales mayores y caninos: 1 mL/10 Kg (10 mg Amoxicilina/ Kg y
25 000 UI/Kg colistina) por día (esta dosis puede administrarse en dosis
única o dividirse en dos aplicaciones al día) por 3-5 días.
● Aves: 0.2 mL/kg por 3 días
PERIODO DE RETIRO
● Carne: Cerdos 13 días. Demás: 25 días.
● Leche: No administrar a animales cuya leche se destine a consumo
humano.
● No administrar a animales cuyos huevos se destine a consumo
humano.
PRECAUCIONES
● Agitar antes de usar.
● No administrar más de 20 mL en un mismo punto de inyección.
● No administrar en casos de hipersensibilidad a los activos de la fórmula.
● Está contraindicado en animales afectados por enfermedades renales
de naturaleza degenerativa.
● Mantener alejado del alcance de los niños.

PRECAUCIONES ESPECÍFICAS QUE DEBE TOMAR LA PERSONA
QUE ADMINISTRE EL MEDICAMENTO A LOS ANIMALES
● No manipular este producto si sabe que es sensible o si se le ha
aconsejado no trabajar con tales preparaciones.
● Maneje este producto con gran cuidado para evitar la exposición,
tomando todas las precauciones recomendadas.
● Si aparecen síntomas después de la exposición, como una erupción
en la piel, debe buscar consejo médico y mostrar al médico esta
advertencia.
● Hinchazón de la cara, labios u ojos o dificultad para respirar son
síntomas más graves y requieren atención médica urgente.
ALMACENAMIENTO
Conservar en un lugar fresco y seco, protegido de la luz. Almacenar entre
15 - 30ºC.

DESCRIPTION
Amoxycol® IS is an bactericidal antibiotic association -synergic with
broad spectrum- for its administration by injection. It provides 100 mg/mL of
amoxicillin activity and 8.33 mg/g of colistin (250,000 IU/mL activity). It is
indicated for the prevention and treatment of a large number of infections in
the main domestic species.
PHARMACOKINETICS / PHARMACODYNAMICS
Amoxicillin
Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum semisynthetic penicillin, which exerts its
action by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. Its action includes
both Gram (+) and Gram (-) bacteria. It binds to plasma proteins and
diffuses widely and rapidly. It presents a high pulmonary tropism reaching a
concentration at the level of the bronchial mucosa similar to the plasma
concentration. It is excreted mainly through the urine and bile.
Amoxicillin is stable in an acid environment and has a gastroenteric
absorption greater than 80% of the dose administered; When injected,
parenterally, absorption is fast and complete (to 15% plasma protein).
It spreads widely and rapidly, allowing blood and tissue concentrations
higher than average MICs. It has a high pulmonary tropism, reaching a
concentration in the bronchial mucus level equal to twice the blood
concentration; Bacterial lysis is faster than that obtained with ampicillin. It is
free of toxicity. It is eliminated in active form mainly by the urinary tract.
Colistin
Colistin is a cyclic polypeptide (polymyxin), which exerts an antibiotic effect
by disorganizing the bacterial membrane, with the release of intracellular
material.
It is stable in an acidic environment (pH between 3 and 6). When
administered parenterally, colistin is rapidly absorbed and diffuses easily,
reaching tissue levels higher and longer than blood cells. It is selectively
active against Gram (-) germs, including E. coli, Enterobacter aerogenes,
Haemophilus spp. Ornithobacterium rhinotracheale, Pasteurella spp.,
Pseudomona spp., Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Bordetella spp. among
others, while its action against Gram (+) is minimal.
After oral administration, in the form of sulphate is not absorbed from the
gastrointestinal tract, exerting only local antibacterial action and thus
allowing an objective level of Gastrointestinal tract therapy, where infections
are usually compatible with Gram-negative microorganisms.
About the Association
The association, used parenterally, offers an additive and synergistic effect;
translating into a more effective systemic therapy than they have separately.
Additionally, the great security in its use and the low possibility of generating
resistance (mainly Gram-positive), increase the possibility of success. The

The phenomenon of resistance, not completely known, is extremely rare. As
important fact, the combination of colistin-amoxycillin for oral use, has
additional effect and allows for the two different pharmacokinetics of the
active ingredients to simultaneously achieve a specific therapy of the
gastrointestinal tract by colistin (which is not whole-absorbed) and a
systemic therapy, in particular of the respiratory, urinary and integumentary
system by amoxicillin (which is entero-absorbed).
