 In commemoration of ICE’s 200th Anniversary to promote
the importance of civil engineering and contribution of
civil engineers to society
 Riding on the success of ICE 200 Masterclass
 Promotion of STEM education in
high schools

Highlights
 A first-of-its-kind campaign for secondary school students
with holistic engineering experience and knowledge
through themed visits, talks and workshops
 Focuses on fostering inter-personal bonding and
development between facilitators and students for long-
term career development in the industry
 Capitalising on G&S experience in organising visits and
seminars and holding workshops for secondary school
students
(e.g. Future Engineers Project, Civil Engineering Outreach, ICE 200
Masterclass)

Objectives
 To inspire the young generation to become civil engineers
or professionals in built environment
 To showcase the contribution of civil engineers to society

 To engage students to look into future challenges of Hong

Scenario-based Competition
 Two scenarios, each assigned to 4 schools
 Encourage knowledge exchange among students from
same school who visited different sites/workshops

Goals:
 Consolidate engineering concepts
 Apply them and formulate solutions for each scenario
 Appreciate constraints considered in civil engineering
projects

 Two scenarios, representing two major strands of work
for civil engineers, were used for the competition:

 Scenario 1. Sau Mau Ping Station of East Kowloon Line


– Infrastructure for transforming life

 Scenario 2. Future of Pokfulam Village


– Shaping a sustainable future for the last village on Hong Kong
