 Project Objectives

• Provide a reliable, fast, and convenient connection for

passengers traveling between LAX and the regional bus and
rail transit system

• Integrate with existing and future transit connections and

airport facilities

• Increase the share of transit trips to and from LAX with

minimal impact to airport facilities and surrounding
communities, and help reduce air pollution

AMC-Airport Metro Connector Project

• The proposed project includes a new multi-modal

transportation center to connect LAX to the regional bus and
rail transit system.

• Project components include:

• Three at-grade LRT platforms to be served by the
• Crenshaw/LAX Line and a service extension of the Metro Green Line
• Bus plaza and terminal facility for Metro and municipal buses
• Bicycle hub with secured parking
• Pedestrian plaza
• Passenger vehicle pick-up and drop-off area
• Metro transit center/terminal building (“Metro Hub”)that connects
passengers between the various modes of transportation

Key Things to Think About

• The Airport Metro Connector station is envisioned to be the new

transit “gateway” to LAX for transit riders that will be served by
both the Metro Green and Crenshaw/LAX Lines.

• This will be the first station visited after arriving to LAX. It’s
imperative that we have input from as many stakeholders as
possible from throughout the region.

Key Things to Think About-Naming Policies

• Transit System Context - Names will provide information as to where a property is

located within the context of the entire transit system; property names will clearly be
distinguishable with no duplication

• Property Area Context - Names will provide specific information as to the location of
the property within the context of the surrounding street system, so that users can
find their way around after their arrival and to support system access via automobile
drop off

• Neighborhood Identity - Where appropriate, property naming will acknowledge that

system stations and stops serve as entry points to the region’s communities and
neighborhoods

• Simplicity - Names will be brief enough for quick recognition and retention by a
passenger in a moving vehicle, and to fit within signage and mapping technical
parameters

Shorter Operational Name: Used more commonly and/or when space is

limited. Length of the operational name to a maximum of 24 characters
