To whom it may concern,

It is my pleasure to write this reference letter for Amy Stiff. I have known Amy for the
past year (January 2017-December 2017) in my position as principal of the British Columbia
Canadian International School of Cairo. I have had the opportunity to watch Amy as a first and
second year teacher and I can say, without hesitation, that I am thoroughly impressed with her
as an educator.

Amy’s classroom is well organized and she makes every attempt to meet the needs of a
wide variety of learners. She works to differentiate instruction and is conscious of how
formative and summative assessments factor into a child’s educational plan. Egypt can be a
very challenging place to teach and Amy has risen to the challenge. She works hard to develop
positive relationships with her students and to create a management plan that involves the
children in her class. It is obvious that Amy is always in control of the class and that she is very
aware of what is going on in the room.

Amy uses a wide range of instructional practices meant to appeal to a vast array of
students. Her classes are very student centered and as a result, the students are engaged and
interested in learning. I also believe that much of Amy’s success comes from her presence in
the class and the calm confidence that she projects.

This year Amy was appointed to the team leader position responsible for the
intermediate grades. She participated in weekly team leader meetings as well as coordinating
the collaborative sessions for the department. I was very impressed with her leadership in the
intermediate group and also the school as a whole. She was also an active member of the
leadership team that planned professional development activities for the staff. Amy has natural
leadership abilities that will continue to develop with more experience.

I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Amy Stiff for any position for which she
is applying. She will not only be an outstanding classroom teacher but will also be an
outstanding collaborative colleague. Do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
