Learning Objective(s):
● Ability to identify careers within the community
● Understand what a community helper is

Materials:
● Whiteboard, markers, book, worksheet, glue, scissors
Procedure:
● 1:00-1:04
○ Counselor will welcome all the students and let them know we are going to be
discussing careers today. Student will be seated in a circle near the board.
● 1:04-1:10
○ Counselor will ask students to name any job they can think of and will create a
list on the whiteboard for them to see.
● 1:10-1:25
○ Counselor will read “Whose hands are these?” to the students.
● 1:15-1:30
○ Students will then go back to their seats and a worksheet will be handed out.
○ Students will work individually on cutting and gluing the correct job descriptions
with the illustration.
● 1:30-1:40
○ Counselor will close out lesson by answering any questions & reviewing the job
listed on the whiteboard compared to the ones in the story.

30 students will have one lesson on community helper careers for 40 minutes

● Students will be able to identify different careers in their community & what a
